Mis-fire or trans issue. Shuddering.

Love the truck aside from the shuddering that occurs when giving it gas. Happens 80 percent of the time while at highway speeds giving it a little bit of gas. 8-10th gear. The other percent of the time it’s random or when giving it the beans to pass someone. Whole truck kinda shakes. Took ford shop foreman for a ride. He said…. Yeah. That’s not right. Have appointment to drop her off on Tuesday. Kinda sad.

Anyone else have this issue

I have the exact same issues with my 21 Powerboost, i've taken it to the dealer several times and they have not been able to fix the issue, but i have test drove a couple others on the lot and had the same issues. I recently ordered a new tremor, but thinking about canceling the order now that I am seeing issues on other models as well, I thought this my have been an issue with the hybrid setup.

Mine seems fine but I would check your spark plugs. There was an issue way back in the gen1 ecoboost days where the plugs were not gapped correctly and under higher boost levels it was blowing out the spark.

Sorry to resurrect an older thread. Wondering if anything was ever fixed on this? I have a 22 tremor f150 and I get the same shudder in 9-10th gear when the truck comes under some load. It's even worse when pulling a trailer. Shakes the whole truck.

So I can say this… after putting 35s on my truck it got a little bit better….Less noticeable. Which leads me to believe it’s a problem with the trans. The converter is stalling out sooner than it needs to be in my book. I even tried killing the learning mode (ford tech here) and still… it exists. A reprogramming of the trans would fix the problem no doubt.

I had a similar issue- was throwing code for cylinder 6 mis-fire. It would shudder when I gave it gas at any speed. Intermittently. Brought to the dealer assuming a bad coil (truck had 634 miles on it at the time). I got the “it was a programming issue- should be good now”. Truck now has 1500 miles on it, hasn’t happened again. I hate the “programming” answer and the guy saw my skepticism… I’m thinking it could have been a spot of bad fuel (or could have been a programming thing). Regardless- sucks to be in the back of your mind.

There was a guy on youtube that had the same issue and it ended up being a bad spark plug.

Mine just developed it on a 1700 mile drive down to Texas. At 80mph with the CC on it would shudder as soon as it hit any hill, past 80 it was almost nonstop. Seems to be at initial and low boost application. I’m going to throw new plugs gaped to .28 in shortly and see if that helps.

Did the plugs fix your issue? Mine just started doing the exact same thing.

This is my biggest fear with buying a truck during this pandemic. I'll be driving approx 1500 miles home after I pick up my truck.

Lots of talk about this over on the Gen14 forums. No one seems to have solution from what I've seen. One guy said his dealer told him it was a programming issue, and when he got it back it was fixed, but he didnt say what they did, if anything. I thought I saw someone mention a tuner having the ability to smooth things out, but I don't remember where.

Did you ever get this issue resolved?

Honestly I’ve been so damn busy lately I haven’t had time to do anything about it. I’ve got the plugs, but it’ll be a week or so until I get time to swap them. I’m also going to have the dealer look into the tranny “retune” when I bring it in for the transmission level recall. Wish I had better news, but I’ll definitely post here if anything works/ doesn’t work!

What is the transmission level recall?
Perhaps the level of transmission fluid is too low, so they would recall you to the dealership to add fluid.

Was there an "actual" recall for trans fluid level? I don't see that listed anywhere in the TSB's and Recalls for the 2021 / 2022 F150

Sorry, that was literally just a guess.

No the recall was in n the programming, it would sometimes read the trans pressure too low and cause it to kick in not neutral, I just had the recall done, now instead of running at the first notch above low it sits about an 1/8" above it, the trans does seem to run a little smoother but I have only had around 50 miles of driving with it mostly in city/suburban neighborhood. I say running smoother as in shifts, but mine has not really been that rough, just every so often it shifted hard.
