Hey all.

So I got to working on the modular bumper install on my 2023 today.
As promised here are some mock up pics and my observations.
Keep in mind this is a Raptor R modular with Raptor wings…it does look like it’ll take flight LOL.

Overall observations……..it does physically fit into the space and ALMOST lines up with the lower grill valance.

The molding on top of the bumper does get in the way of the arc from the upper valance. I did trim it slightly for a better fit

The original rubber piece from the factory bumper is thinner, so I don’t see it fitting correctly and filling the gap properly.

Honestly I’m on the fence with it. While it does physically fit, and I do want/like the look of the bumper with the higher cut wings (the tremor ones of course) I’m not sure the overall fitment is worth it to me.
I will say the crash bars would remain hidden from view with the wings and the lower extension pieces that come on the tremor modular bumper.

In case anyone wants to run the raptor wings, you’d need a serious flare to match up the the bumper Wings

I have some traveling to do the next couple of weeks, so I won’t be able to get back on the project until about the 10th of August.
By then my Tremor wings, plastic lower wing extensions, fog light pods, and a couple light mount brackets should be here and I can do a full proper install.

Oh, the skid plates are different. The 21-23 has an extension piece off the bumper to close a space between the bumper and skid plate. The modular bumper does not have any way of attaching this piece and the 2024 skid plate extends all the way to the bumper.
I’m sure I could fabricate something to make that piece work, it just adds to the fact this isn’t a straight forward bolt on swap and more parts are needed.

Guess I just need someone to hit the front of my truck enough to justify a 2024 facelift refresh. LOL.

EDIT a for a thought…..I think some of the round stick on foam padding that you might use for sealing a bed cover, or tailgate, might work as a filler between the bumper and lower grill valance. This could be cut to length, even maybe different thickness for the the bumper and wings if needed.

Would still need the 2024 skid plate though, as it is longer than the 21-23 skid plates. Or as I mentioned above figure out a way to make the extension from the 21-23 bumper work on the 24 Modular bumper.

you are the man for trying this out for everyone!

the Raptor R bumper looks like it took a little beating in shipment though.

It was already scratched up before I got it. It was pretty well wrapped for shipping.
I knew the damage ahead of time, and it really didn’t bother me since my plan is to either paint to match my truck or coat it in bed liner material anyway.

I was looking at the bolts for accessories on the top and face, and they are just threaded into a nutsert, so they could technically be added to any bumper and any accessories that use those mounting point should work.
I ordered some light mount brackets that use those bolts, just to see if the bend in them would match up to a 21-23 bumper. Wouldn’t be hard for someone to drill and add nutserts in order to use those accessories on the non modular bumper.

I will likely get back on this project this coming weekend if my tremor wings arrive.

I appreciate the effort, for science!

bueller...
LMAO
Sorry guys,
I have been doing a lot of traveling the last couple weeks and also waiting on a couple other parts to show up. Currently I’m up in the NH and MA area, tomorrow and Thursday I will be in CT, then will head home. Hopefully I can be back home late Thursday night/early friday morning so I can get back on the project this weekend.

I do know the tremor wings arrived, as did a bumper mounting bracket I needed and some misc fasteners.

As soon as I can re-mock the new bumper in place I will update.

This work stuff just gets in the way of fun. LOL

Need money for truck. Need to spend time for money. No time for truck when you spend money on it.

Feel you bro. Looking forward to the update.

So just to update, this project is on a bit of a hold. Truck is in the shop for a rear end rebuild.
I’ve been chasing a vibration at highway speeds and when slowing down, I have been through a set of tires and 2 new rims (all under warranty) and none of it helped. So now the dealer wants to replace the rear ring and pinion as they said the backlash is out and coast side of the gears are not meshing properly.
Plus at the end of the month I am moving back down to Florida to take a job running a new upfit department for a Ford Dealer.
As soon as I can get a free day to work on it, I will post up.
Appreciate everyone’s patience……I know a lot of you are waiting to see how well this fits.

I wonder if the tremor version is different? Is it the same center section with different wings between raptor and tremor?

Your are gonna be closer to me! that's exciting. will have to plan to meet up sometime after you get settled in down here.

Yes, the center sections are the same (color is different between the tremor, which is dark gray, raptor is black) and the wings are different. Tremor are shorter but bolt on exactly the same.

Absolutely! I have some projects I want to work with you on for my emergency vehicle builds. I will be in the Cocoa/Merritt Island area.

Ok.
Bumper is painted to match my truck, I’m settled in to the new apartment in Florida, plus have the new shop in order, and tomorrow I will head to the shop and refit the Modular bumper to the truck. I have some various sizes of foam to help fill the gaps. Will post up more pics tomorrow afternoon.
Here is the painted bumper because….well because we all like pictures.

Stay tuned for fitment pics tomorrow. I also plan on mounting some light brackets and lights while I’m working on it.

Been at work at it already this morning.
Have the bumper mocked into place with the Tremor wings.
Again, it does physically fit in the space, however the lower grill valance does impede how high you can mount the bumper. This creates a larger gap between the center section of the bumper and the lower grill balance as shown in the picture below.

Here are some additional pictures

Crash bars do remain intact so far. There is a plastic trim piece that would hide it, I’m waiting on those pieces to arrive.
IMG_7903.jpeg

I am going to keep moving forward this morning with this project. I have some foam/rubber gasket material I will try to see how it fits between the bumper and the valance. Plus I will put on the front plastic caps and other pieces for a full install.

Stay tuned.

Ok

I’m going to clean up the wiring and call it done for now.
I will say I do need to get the small support bars for the wings to make them more sturdy. But otherwise it does fit and does look pretty damn good.
I did use some foam gasket material for the gap between the bumper and the valance. It’s a self expanding that I got from Lowes. Will get a pic of the packaging once I clean up.

Let me know if you have any questions or want any other pictures.

After seeing your post on the new headlights, I’d say we do need to meet up!

Couple more pics for you guys.
I did find a company that makes custom rubber filler pieces that I’m going to have make something for the bumper/valance area. The foam is ok, but not a finished look. On the black truck, it’s hard to notice it but I feel on a light colored truck it might be more of an eye sore.
