What's new

My kinda volunteer work

"Volunteers who take an antlerless elk are allowed to possess the carcass." That only would be worth it. Bag a couple elk, stock your freezer for winter.

Sure that would be beneficial, I was looking at the shooting and ability to take the Tremor out and about having some fun.

I just applied for the Kentucky and VA Elk draws. Also applied for the Maine Moose lottery.

I just ordered a Christensen in 7mm PRC. Trying to decide on optic right now.

Athlon or vortex for the optics, Leupold is over priced, of course this is my opinion.

Let me know if you draw a Virginia elk tag, I might be able to help out with location.

I'll look at Athlon, have not heard of them. I've never thought the Vortex was close to Leupold in terms of glass quality. But I have not bought a scope in ten years. My .25-06 is topped with a VX3 that has been solid as they get. I was considering a VX6HD 3-18x44 for the 7mm PRC.

VERY slim chance I get any of those draws but if I do I would sure love any tips on VA location, though I think it's pretty specific in where you can hunt.

It is but I know the area fairly well. It depends on the draw location.

I have a Steyr pro hunter in 7mm rem mag that has had a vortex optic on it for 14 yrs, and has never had to be zeroed since the initial zero. Leupold is good but the cost for them is ridiculous when you can get the same quality with a better warranty for less. Of course that's just my opinion. If you look at PRS competition vortex is or was the most used optic by winners, athlon just came to be a few years ago. And they made leaps and bounds up the ladder on winning competition. I have 3 vortex, 2 Leupold, 2 Nikon, 2 athlon, 1 Burris and one crimson trace.
The Sig Tango6 is the new DSM optic for the army. Those have made leaps and bounds.

I've got their Mesa FFT Titanium in 7mm Rem Mag. You'll love their actions and quality.

"This is not a hunting or recreational opportunity – it is an intensive elk management effort,":ROFLMAO:

Great to hear. Is the action smooth? I've heard titanium can be a little "sticky".

Nice and you aren't kidding for hard to find, by the way there's a company outside Ft. Bragg called Defender ammo, they carry a lot and load both new and reman loads for a lot of different calibers, I have shot a lot of their ammo and have a buddy who competes in PRS and he uses their ammo for competition.

They don’t make 7 PRC, only Hornady makes it right now
