Just took delivery of a 2025 Tremor 402A Space White Metallic. Enjoyed it for 1000 miles and it is now sitting in the dealers back lot waiting for a replacement engine. Started knocking and the rest is history. Now I drive a 2025 Explorer that looks like a cop car.

That is not good, what motor?

Sorry to hear about your engine issue but welcome to the club and forum.

Thanks for the welcome. The motor is 3.5 eco. I am at Fords mercy right now on their decision to rebuild, remanufactured, or crate. My opinion is anything other than new in a crate is unacceptable. I have been looking for another Tremor just in case I don’t like what their decision is but there are no 402A anywhere in the area with a sunroof. I know the sunroofs are very controversial but I really like the darned thing. Hopefully the decision comes very soon so I can make a decision. Had to cancel my fall trips with the side X side to Moab and Bryce Canyon due to no tow vehicle. Bummer.

Man, that’s tough. Hopefully they’re able to get it sorted out for you soon. Keep us posted on what happens.

Welcome to the forum. 🍻

Will do, thanks for the welcome.

I agree 100 percent. The dealership has offered to buy it back but they want to charge fees and all of that garbage. I would end up losing 2 grand on the deal for 6 weeks use and 1000 miles. As far as the engine I bought a new engine 6 weeks ago and I expect a new engine in return. If you guys are interested I will post my progress with the dealership and Ford. Makes for good reading if nothing else. lol

Don’t give up so keep pushing your dealer to cover the additional cost you mentioned.
That small amount isn’t going to matter to them one bit.
If they’re smart, they would do what they know is right.
Much easier to lose a customer than to gain a new one.

Great comment I agree 100 percent. I have a feeling that this adventure is going to be time consuming.

Dude, that sucks man I'm sorry I hope they get it figured out for you.........I love my 3.5 in my 22. I'm at 41k on it now and never skips a beat I tow about 6K with my General XP4 and my 570 ATV on a 20ft trailer. (as we have similar interests :)) It's a beast (not that it's that much weight) but it does most towing better than my Super Duty V10 in some cases (though it has 300k on it) Anyways I added some bags and Bilstein shocks witch both were a game changer. Anyways enough about my truck, what happened to yours? Man, feel for you brother.

So the newest update. Ford has advised the technician to perform a cylinder deactivation test. Not entirely sure what that entails. If that test comes back no problems then the engine gets torn down to find out what went wrong. Either way the truck gets torn apart. My brain can’t handle the thought of this happening at 1000 miles. The dealer is buying the truck back but they aren’t doing me any favors. I am picking up the exact same truck minus a bad engine (I hope) on Monday. Hate getting the new one from the same dealership but the savings on sales tax vs. dealership cutting me a check is huge. This was the first time in my life that I was able to pay for a new truck outright and it didn’t end well. I guess life throws you a curve sometimes. 🙁

Have you called Ford and requested assistance with the buy back? I am sure they are willing to give some money to make this right.

Good idea, I am going to check into that next week. Right now I am feeling like I have been assaulted. lol

I would as we'll, not a great buying experince. I'm pretty confident Ford customer service will take care of you. I am also surprised the dealer didn't suggest you call them for financial assistance on the deal.

Extremely rare problem that you’re going through but at least you’re getting an entirely new vehicle instead of just having the engine replaced under warranty.
With all things considered and if I were in your shoes, this is definitely the outcome I’d want.
With that being said, and I would have recommended this even if you didn’t have any issues, you should definitely look into purchasing a Ford backed Premium ESP that covers everything for the maximum amount of years and miles.

I am going to give Ford a call for sure. Hopefully they can offer something. The engine defect is more than likely something that isn’t common for sure. I am going with the 3.5 eco again because it is such a powerful smooth engine. In the time I drove the original truck I was truly impressed with engine. I had the choice in engines but the reason I didn’t take the 5.0 is I tow at high elevations when I take my RZR out. Some areas of the Paiute in Utah are at 9000 feet and I didn’t want any power loss. It was a tough decision because that 5.0 is awesome. Hope I did the right thing. Definitely going to check into the Ford warranty. It is my understanding that Flood Ford back east has really good prices. If anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it. Happy to be part of the forum.

Keep us updated on how it works out.

If Ford won’t help with $$$ then I’d at least try to get them to give you a long extended warranty.

Sometimes it’s easier to get to throw stuff in that they don’t have to actually pay for
