‘23 Avalanche Tremor 402A 3.5
I just traded my 2018 platinum F150, FX4 3.5 that I had an MPT tune in on a ‘23 3.5 Tremor and was looking into tunes for the new truck. One of the reasons I went ahead and got the new truck was with the understanding that I could tune it to get the performance I had been getting out of my ‘18 Platinum.

Livernois advertised they had a tuner and tunes for the ‘23 Eco boost and I was going to get theirs.

I reached out to Livernois and MPT and both indicated that they do not have the capability to tune the 2023 eco-boost. The Livernois video says they do the 23 eco-boost and MPT shows it on their website but neither can do it yet Livernois did say that if I drove the truck up to Michigan, they could swap out the ECU and do it. I am not going to Michigan.

5 Star sent me an email response saying that they have a tune/tuner that works claiming that it is the same as the ‘21-‘22 but I am waiting for confirmation since it seemed to be a form email response. Has anybody tuned a new ‘23 3.5 eco-boost? If so, who did you get it from.

Not sure who you spoke with at livernoise but this post from their Instagram explicitly states that their tune works for the 2023 engines.

I know the advertisement says that and so does their video talking about the new trucks bumping 600 hp. I spoke to Chris and he indicated they just figured out that they cannot do the 23 model year 3.5. I told them they probably should correct their advertising. I really did rely on that when buying the new truck.

Interesting…

Your one of six people who actually has a 2023 model!!!!!

The earlier response from 5 Star that they could tune the '23s was wrong. They cant! Here is their response when I asked them to confirm the earlier email.

So just as of yesterday's update from SCT, the 2023 trucks will not be supported until the end of the year along with the 2.7 and 2.3 broncos.
I would hold off on ordering for now.

Wow. And here I am ready to buy the 5star tune. Didn't realize I can't yet...

What’s the reason? ECU locked? If they said you have to go to them, maybe the holdup is just a bench unlock of the ECU?

Hmmm... I am going to call Livernois next week and see what kind of answer I get. I am wanting to order the tune for my '23 as well. Their YouTube video (posted 4 weeks ago) confirms the tune WILL work on the '23s. And of course their website does show that same information.

Yes and I relied on that. It is wrong.

I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Livernois this afternoon, and the best answer is that they really just don't know if the tune will work on any given truck. They have had some '23 3.5s they could tune and some they could not. They also mentioned that some of the '22 3.5s cannot be tuned - according to them the ECUs and the strategy codes differ based on when the truck was built.

All that said, I went ahead and ordered one which should ship out today. If it doesn't work, then I can return it for a full refund. I will update this thread after I try it...

My '23 had a very early build date, so I don't know if that helps or hurts. For reference, my blend date was 11/01/22. We'll see what happens - fingers crossed!!

Let us know asap. I will buy it and see if it works on mine if you have any luck.

Will do. They confirmed that a couple of '23 3.5s have been successfully tuned, but they didn't know when those trucks were built. Even if mine isn't successful, it may still be worth a shot. Hopefully both of us get lucky!

Will any tune void the warranty? I have a 23 but don't to void warranty? All about a tune.

It would be nice if they would simply reach out to those owners and find the build date. Mine was built in December.

Agreed. But I wonder if they even kept track, specifically, of which '23s were successfully tuned. Mine was built in November, but who even knows if that is helpful...?

I was supposed to receive the tuner today, but I got a severe weather delay notification from UPS this morning, and they have not provided an updated delivery date yet. I'll update this thread as soon as I know more.

I really appreciate the info and look forward to the update. Keep our fingers crossed.

Have you done anything else to your truck? I've got a '23 3.5 (obviously) in Avalanche as well. But I have a feeling we are far from twins. :ROFLMAO:

And I am trying to decide just how much to do to this truck in the event that Ford ever decides to build my Raptor.

On my other platform, the ability to tune is determined by the date on the ECU, not the build date of the vehicle. They correlate, but still.

Just curious if this is what we’re looking at here - “ECUs after X date are locked”?

Will probably just JB4 it if I get the itch at least while it’s under warranty.

The date on the ECU does make more sense, thus why certain '23s can be tuned and certain '22s cannot. More now than ever the date on the ECU is probably correlated to the date the truck is built. But as you said, who really knows exactly?

I've looked at the JB4 several times and just cannot bring myself to do it. It's closer to a 40-50hp increase (rather than double that - at a minimum), and it doesn't tune the transmission. As much as I want to add a tune, I just can't bring myself to spend the same amount of money for a lesser return. If the Livernois tune won't go on my truck, I may just wait until they can tune all '23s.
