Hey Everyone,

I wanted to post a little update on my thoughts after one month of ownership, and get some feedback about a few things that I have questions/concerns on. Overall I really enjoy this truck. Coming from a 2013, there really is so little to compare. The ride is incredibly comfortable for a truck. I really like the Unleashed B&O system, the big infotainment screen is great, all the bells and whistles seem to work great. I'm just hitting 1200 miles or so after a month.

As my mileage has gone up, it seems gas mileage is getting better. I just did a 300 mile round trip for work, and averaged 20.5 mpg. 95% highway, and just a little time through town. Sat at around 73 mph using blue cruise a lot. I do actually like Blue Cruise. It works better than expected.

I have some questions for you all.

  • For those of you with the center work station console, do you find that when you open the lid to get into the center console, it does not stay open unless you are on perfectly flat ground? My drive way is at a very very slight incline. I back my truck in so technically it is facing down hill, but its maybe 1-2 degrees. When I open the console, it just wants to fall shut over and over. It's like the spring is not strong enough to hold it upright. Anyone else? Should I talk to Ford?
  • Sometimes when I use my key fob to open my tailgate, it doesn't deploy the first, second or even third time. It's not often, but annoying when I want to make sure it's down before I get to the truck.
  • Do you find that if you are listening to something using Android Auto, and you have your volume at let's say 10. If you unlock your phone your music get's quieter, yet the volume on display still says 10. It stays permanently quieter. I noticed on this trip I just took that if I got in my truck and didn't touch my phone, I could play it at 20 and it was "loud". If I unlocked my phone, I had to go to nearly full volume to get the same "loud". Just something odd.
  • Has anyone found an override for the front camera speed. If I'm driving down my dirt road at night, I like the front camera because of critters and pot holes, but past 7-8 mph it shuts off. Any way to override that setting? Forscan?
  • Does anyone know how to get it to go into Sport mode without automatically going into 4A. Before the gas crisis, I like sport mode a lot more, but find myself switching off the 4A every time because it turns it on.

Glad to be a part of the community. Next week I should have her on the dyno for some baseline power numbers.

Points 1 and 2 happen to me, it's part of my small list of complaints also, mainly the tailgate thing. It'll beep twice but won't go. Seems like a sensor or lock issue, idk.

The console for me never stays open easily, I feel it should have some spring or something but it doesn't, very loose.

On the Gen14 forums the fix for the lid not staying up is to put two nickels under the flat part of the spring on the lid. 10 cent mod

Awesome! Gonna try that. Thanks!

Nice!
I’m gonna see if I can scrounge up a couple of nickels and try it out.
It works, just did it. It's great.

What the picture doesn't show is there's a plastic cover where the nickels go, just pull it off gently it's attached with clips so you have space to slide the nickel. I used needle nose pliers to pull the spring back. Took me about 10 minutes messing with it before realizing the cover was what was messing me up, and then it took 45 seconds to pull the spring and slide the nickels in lol.

So where you fingers are that piece pulls off then the springs are exposed and place the nickels?

Yes sir! The springs are already exposed but not with enough space to slide the nickel under, until you pull that cover off.

Great idea for a post Boostking!

I'm at 1800 and about 6 weeks in, and I absolutely love this thing. There are some interesting points to ownership though, and Im so glad you pointed some out.

That the console closing issue is definitely a thing for me too.
Its less of an issue in my use case though because I have the console safe, and the inner door of the safe holds the larger door opened when the safe is opened.
So this is only a slight pain when I am trying to open up the safe. I'm still going to try that Nickle trick though. I love the idea of a $.10 mod.

I haven't noticed any of the other pain points that you mentioned. I assume its just because of the way I use the truck.

My only real complaint so far (besides the whip antenna that kept distracting me) is that the seats don't feel as fitted as I had hoped. I came from the Ford Fusion which had some really great seats IMO, so maybe I'm just spoiled.
I know this is a truck, but these seats (402A) don't hug my butt nearly as well as I think they should. I feel like its much closer to a bench seat (like my old Ford Ranger had) than it is to a real sports seat. My leg spills over onto the side where I want the sides of the seat to keep it in. It makes the ride more difficult on long drives. I thought from the looks of the seat that they would be more supportive. Way better than any other truck I've owned, but still not as good as I had hoped.

Other than that (knock on wood) I have no issues.
