I am curious who intends to build their rig for more of an overland setup? This is my intention as I have purchased this as a camping and outdoorsmen vehicle. I would like to take the Trans American Trail at some point, it would be a lot of fun and great memories for my son and I.

You can see my previous setup on my 2018 fx4 on my profile page. I'm going to take my RTT and Thule rack and put it back on my truck. I went with an adjustable rack to ensure I had the right height. A more stable rack like you've chosen would work great. Also keep in mind the ability to attach add-ons like Jack's or ramps on the side if that's something you would be interested in. I also have a Thule roof rack on my cab to carry additional gear.

That's probably my favorite rack I've seen so far--sturdy, versatile, not as low/high as the rest. I wonder if it'll fit an F-150 Tremor? Not sure if the Raptor bed is the same as our 5.5' bed or not.

I am pretty sure the two share the same 5.5 foot bed. Then again after review year selection for this rack stops at 2020 .

I plan on building an every day overloading Tremor. We do a lot of UTV riding and boating. Passed on the Raptor because of all the towing we do. But is so nice to be at the lake and have ice cream and shade. I have been torn between a RSI shell or a bed rack. ICON's or Fox DSC's. Roof rack on the truck itself or not. I love the ADD bed rack, but I want to know if you can still see out the back. I want to be able to see out the rear window if I do a bed rack.

Another reason I got the adjustable rack for height to ensure I can still see out the back window. I'm thinking of trading up and getting the Yakima outpost HD, semi adjustable and sturdy with the ability to attach components to the side rails.

I'll respond to this in another beer or 7 and 2 more hot chicken week stops.

Me. I'll likely either go with a GFC camper or a Leitner ACR rack. The Alu-cab canopy camper is a third option but probably too niche for me. Still want the flexibility to use my truck as a truck.

I currently have the original leitner ACS. It is sturdy and flexible at the cost of a few holes in your bed. They are the sturdiest rack I've seen. Rci makes a good rack and if I remember correctly they have different height legs so you can customize your ride.

If I don't go with rsi, I'll adjust my leitner to the tremor.

Be careful of the dynamic weight rating. 300-400 pounds of static weight will destroy a rack with a couple of good jarring pivots on a trail.

I think I am going with the Retrax bed cover with rails and the UpTop Bed Truss. If I don't go RSI SmartCap. Looks like I have plenty of time to decide.

Leitner has some form of retrax type of mount for their rack system

Thanks for the discussion, looks like a great system.

I looked at theirs and Xtrusion. The Leitner looks like something an electrician or plumber would have IMO. Xtrusion has a lot of cool features but looks like an erector set. UpTop is kinda in between and if I get the roof basket I may have the shadow pieces powder coated Tremor Orange. I am not ordering anything until my truck at least shows built. So I could easily change my mind by then.

I’m kinda digging that Xtrusion! And it can go over a softioper? Damnit! I need to stay off this forum!

You and me both the credit card is getting worn out.

If i had my truck I would be in trouble with the wife and bank. This is the first truck I have ever had to wait for. It has given me way to much time to research parts and pieces.

that uptop cab rack is pretty sweet, the website is a bit squirrely about how much weight you can put on it. But i'd want it for Kayaks/ small amounts of lumber, etc which should be fine. Need to pair it with a bed rack too ofc, but there are several good options for bed racks and not many for on top of the cab.

Yeah, it looks slick. That spine looks a bit thin, though. I would like to see some good numbers, though. I think it was Sherpa that put them out there ~ 300# dynamic and 600# static. $400 for color match is a bit steep but getting the groovetek wrapped should be cheap'ish

I'm focusing my truck on weekends in the local mountains, camping, fishing and climbing...guess that's close to overlanding.

I went with a gfc camper, like it because the truck bed stays a bed but I have a decent place to crash above.
