Anyone have a phone mount they’re super happy with?
I had this one in my ‘15 F150. I liked it because it was a one-handed quick and easy ‘throw’ the phone up there and the magnet would lock it in to place pretty darn securely AND it was a charger (iPhone MagSafe compatible). So it would charge while mounted.
It did not clip to the vents securely enough to stay so I ended up super glueing it (yes) and it held tight for years.
Just curious if there’s a go to these days. Would love one that charged along with holding the phone. Would love one that was ‘one-handed’ operation.
(Also curious with the advent of CarPlay, how many people still have a desire to mount their phones).

I considered a phone mount, but it just fits fine in the media spot or right behind the shifter. Any benefit im missing or is it just preference?

Once I discovered ProClip I basically don't use anything else now. https://www.proclipusa.com/products/855664-ford-f-150-upper-center-dash-mount

Cranbery: Depends on what UX you want I guess. If I'm using Andoid Auto and Google Maps to navigate, it will prompt me to use the phone when I do a search instead of the console screen. And sometimes if I've got a meeting while driving I have Teams up on my phone because it doesn't work through Android Auto.

You can get your screen to display on the truck screen, there's a thread about it. No root requires. I can cast my screen to the truck screen, I've used it specifically for teams meetings lol. The apps are AAAD and AA mirror plus. Use AAAD to install AA mirror plus.

I don’t think you’re missing anything. Just curious about others preferences. CarPlay is awesome. But, I can’t…I mean…my non-driving passenger…can’t read texts, or check other non-CarPlay apps without accessing the phone. Plus, having a charger / mount would be a bonus.
Will have to check out the AAAD and AA mirror stuff.

Man. @trexus , those look pretty slick! And you can get integrated charging too!

I was going to ask this exact question so thank you! I often need the dial pad and I can't access it in motion...

I have the bulletpoint on order. I like that you can add multiple devices to it.

I second on the bullet Point Phone Mounting System...Finally something that is sturdy, easy to install and reasonably priced...

I installed the BuiltRight mount (Pro) with the Bulletpoint AMPS 22 MM ball/mount/arm rig.
I could not be happier.

Its not as quick to install as some other systems, but it is super solid. Because it is so solid I can also mount my GoPro and my GMRS radio. Super solid over the roughest terrain and super flexible with where you want to swing the arm.

I used that phone slot and the wireless charging station for a while too. I had to wait a long while for BuiltRight to get their Pro mount fabricated for me. Those two locations work fine.
But having the phone heads up makes it much more useable for tracking off-road locations or just watching for e-mails/chat. Keeps your eyes on the road instead of down in the console.

What is the difference in the "pro" mount vs normal? I didn't realize there were two options. Not sure what I got, but installed it last night. Took a bit of time for sure. Love the look and how solid it feels.

Hey man.
Both are awesome. But the "pro" mount comes with an internal component that mounts to the dash frame itself. It makes it a little more stable under stress. I figured since I was going to hang my radio, phone AND go pro I should use the pro version.

This. I got the pro also. Worth it.

I’m in the same camp. I’d love a MagSafe charger but only if it’s a super clean install. With wireless CarPlay I just see no reason to clutter my dash with mounts and extra screens, but everyone has different needs I guess. The best option I’ve come up with so far is 3D printing a MagSafe charger that will fit in front of the shifter that would be easy to pull out when I used the workspace. IF I ever get around to it I’ll definitely share the file.

Looks great. Do you ever miss the utility of that storage cubby up there? Sunglasses…notes…Copenhagen…etc?

The base is pretty sturdy for just being bolted to plastic.

Would charge if you have a case on it?
