On my never ending search for the perfect combination of a tonneau cover and adjustable height bed rack I came across the Putco Tec Rails as a t-slot mounting system. I haven't found any feedback on the product, but seems like an alternative to the Elevate TS Rail or a retractable cover with built in t-slots. The Tec Rail attaches stake pocket, rather than clamping on the bed rail, which seems like a bonus. Putco says they can hold 500lbs., or 1000lbs. with the Putco rack. On the down side, the Tec Rail t-slots are about 4in. above the bed rails, so you have to factor that into the height of your rack.

The Putco rack system seem pretty nice, but I'd still really like the option to adjust the height of the rack--below cab height for a RTT (to get in my garage) and above cab for kayaks and other large items. A Yakama Overhaul HD rack should fit on the Putco rails and would be a good option, if the lowest height, plus the Tec Rail 4in. is still below cab.

Still waiting on my truck, so I've got some time on my hands to think about this.

I bought the T-rail bed cover from Ford.
I heard it's an Extang rebranded

I had planned on getting those until I saw the Go Rhino 2.0 sport bar. The Putco require cutting out the front stake pockets and the Go Rhino requires drilling into the rails, so have to alter in either case.

Here I am 2 years later and you took almost every thought out of my head word for word. I looked at all the same products and came to a similar level of dissatisfaction. I'd like stake-pocket-mounted low-profile rails and an adjustable rack that I can pair with the vast majority of tonneau covers.

Adarac rails are frustratingly close to perfect but for some reason they used a 90* rotated t-slot instead of upright so only their verticals are compatible.

Did you find a better solution for stake-pocket-mounted T-slot rails?

I ended up getting the Elevate tracks and their rack to match with a Bakflip X4s tonneau cover. The rack and track has worked great for my RTT during the summer and carrying other items. Now Bakflip makes a roller cover (X4st) with tracks built-in which avoids the need of separate track rails. I'm mixed about the X4s cover though. I have had a few items break on the cover over the last 2 years, including the cover itself. But Bakflip has been super responsive and replaced any broken items, no questions asked.

My cover without the track rails is very close to the stake pockets on my truck. So I question whether I could have used the Putco Tec Rail with the Bakflip X4s cover.

Best, JB
