RAGBRAI - Iowa, here i come.

Hey all. Looks like I got suckered into the ride across Iowa. If anyone is in the area, I'm all ears as for what is available to experience in the state

It's a week-long party on a bicycle with 18K people from all over the world. If the weather and wind are favorable, it's impossible to not have an absolute blast. You'll see plenty of the best of Iowa and our people along the way. Have fun and train a little before you get here. Iowa is way hillier than people ever think.

Yeah, I did it back around 90. I vaguely remember much more than people being fantastic and spending the night with people my buddies knew.

I'm the sag wagon for my wife and some friends, this round so I'm hoping to have extra time to explore. Besides, my truck is from Iowa. I want it to know it's roots.

Backbone State Park has some cool park roads and hiking trails. But if you have a whole day I'd highly recommend Mossy Glenn Park Reserve.
It's a couple mile hike on public and state land up a trout creek that leads to a the mossy(est) waterfall that comes straight out of a cliff I've ever seen.
It's pretty cool and online pics don't do it justice. I couldn't find a map as to where you'll be in relation but that time of year I'd bring lots of permitherin and bug spray.

Sounds like a good side trip.
This year is Sioux city to davenport
