Raptor owner considering move to 23/24 Tremor ?'s

Hi all,

New member here and currently have a 2019 Raptor that I'm enjoying but living in Maryland it just doesn't get used like it should meaning it's a pavement queen. I like aggressive looking trucks though and always wanted an Raptor and finally checked that off my list.

Seeing the new Tremor I think it would fit my needs better and from what little I've read might even ride better than my Raptor.

So just looking for thoughts from other members that maybe did the same or bought a Tremor over the Raptor.

How is the ride?

What engine? I like the Ecoboost but might consider a V8 again.

No rush on purchase so might even wait and see what Ford does with 2024 models before making a change.

welcome, I was considering the Raptor but I needed the tow capacity. I came from a 2020 Lariat that I could of spent the money on to upgrade to the options I have on the Tremor or "Dumb Down" a Raptor for towing. I work on F-150 platform for the blue oval and have driven the Raptor R, Raptor, Tremor and by far the Tremor suits the needs I have a hundred percent. I have the 3.5 Ecoboost and love it, I thought about going with the 5.0 but I do not have the time to tinker and upgrade the engine (and I would) and drain my pocket book as well. I will do some upgrades to the truck when warmer weather gets around but still in my opinion a great truck. There are others here who can give you much more in depth thoughts and comparisons though I am sure. welcome

I'm like you — I like the aggressive looking trucks. Raptor will always be my favorite looking truck and I definitely would have considered one this year if the prices weren't so over the top of MSRP. There was just no way I was going to pay these dealership prices. Also, like you, it would just be a pavement queen and in fact would make very little sense as I tend to go on long road trips, especially in the summer. I've had my '23 tremor for two months now and I definitely feel I get that aggressive looking truck with a very smooth, comfortable ride, and also decent mpg. I'm sure it's great off road too, but like I said, I don't really do much of that. I had the Ecoboost on my '18 Lariat and have it again on the Tremor. I really like the Ecoboost engine. Of course a 5.0 would sound great and everything, but again ecoboost probably fits my needs the best. The only thing I would say is if you are in no rush, maybe wait and see about the '24 because the '23 has some deleted options — no heated steering wheel, no heated mirrors, no blue cruise, and I think a couple of other little things. Or you might be able to find a new '22 that does have heated steering wheel and blue cruise if you can't control the itch and want to get one soon. There's a '22 sitting on my lot that I pass every day and I think to myself "Had I waited a month or so I could have a heated steering wheel and blue cruise right now" haha but it would be white and not this new avalanche color which really stands out. I've gotten quite a few compliments on the truck and the color specifically.

Welcome! The majority of my miles are off road (or getting there) but the Raptor was simply too wide and didn't tow enough, for me. So far I haven't questioned my decision to go with the Tremor. In your situation, the only thing I would change is the rear shocks. This really is a fantastic truck on and off road but switching out the rear shocks took the truck from fantastic to perfect on the road/dirt roads. If you tow towards the heavy side of the limit, maybe add a RAS to help manage towing.

I would also say wait and see what the 24 offers. They'll eventually start adding options and upgrades again and were all hoping for sooner vs later.

Yeah mine was kind of an impulse purchase. Rather expensive impulse buy haha but at the same time my '18 Lariat was at 99K miles and I figured trade it in now instead of waiting for the '24 to come out because I easily put 20K+ miles/year on my truck so I would have lost a lot of value on my trade in probably had I waited.

I have owned Raptors in the past. Love them and going back to a normal truck kinda sucks to be honest. But I tow my toys to the lake and dunes and enjoy the higher towing of the Tremor. Lifted my truck to give it it so own personality. It actually gets way more looks than a Raptor. But I do see a Gen 4 Raptor R in my future. Just sucks the dealers are making them so overpriced. The rumored Superduty Raptor would probably be the sweet spot for the guys that want to use their trucks as trucks and still beat them up in the desert. But for now the Tremor is where it’s at.

I owned an 18 Raptor. I bought it because I liked the look, but wasn't that impressed with the way it drove on road. I had no intention of ever taking it off road. I traded for an Edge ST. When I was ready to trade the Edge, Tremor was still a ways off, so I bought an Aviator. Thought I wanted a Bronco but gave up after too long a wait and finally got a Tremor. The Tremor seems much the same as the Raptor but is more pleasing to drive. It rides smoother, the braking is better. Everything just feels a bit more fine tuned.

Thanks for all the good information guys and yeah I'll have some decisions to make for sure. I'm glad I owned a Raptor but won't be that sad to replace it with a Tremor if that happens in the future. I'm in no rush so with the lack of a few items on 23's I think I'll wait and see what happens with 24 models and maybe I get lucky and some of the features are back on 24 models that I like. I would probably order the Tremor and get what I want, like I'm not a sun/moon roof guy so why pay for it but if it's lumped into a package I might have to. I just hope they include the Tremor in the new 24 models and don't delay it say a year or something crazy.

What kind of mpg you guys seeing in the Tremor with 3.5 Eco? I avg around 16 in the Raptor but I don't baby it and that's all around driving. I read one thread it sounds like the Tremor might not get that and I think it would be a little better but who knows.

I might be towing in the future so the Tremor would fit that bill better also.

I guess I need to get out and drive one to see how it compares to the Raptor and then just wait unless I wanted one of the 2022 models in my area but I think at this point just go for the 24 model. I do like some of the new colors for 2023 so hopefully some of them carry over to 24.

Maybe the vehicle prices will come down a bit as well. I lucked out when I bought my 19 Raptor only had to pay MSRP which was more than any other vehicle I ever bought. Went to the dealer recently and they showed me the interior of a 22 Raptor and I said how much is this salesman $80K with $10-$20K markup NO THANKS HAHAHAHAHA

I have a 23 Tremor with the v8 and get 20-21 on eco/normal mode for trips. In normal/sport mode around town I get 18-19. I calculated it and get true 19 miles per gallon. I don’t baby it all either. I use sport mode every time I drive haha. 2400 miles on it so far

I've made the switch from a 2019 Leadfoot Raptor to a 2023 Azure Gray F150 Tremor. Same reasons that a Tremor suits my needs and wants at this time. No regrets.

I have never had a Raptor but I did come from a 2022 F250 Tremor with 7.3 V8 and I love the ride in my 2023 Tremor with 5.0.

I have the Ecoboost and I'm up to 2,600 miles and for whatever reason I'm only at 16.0 mpg. When I took it off the lot it was at like 8.0 mpg. My work commute is 35 miles round trip, with some nice flat spots where I can go a nice 55 mph but also some hills and I have to go 3 miles up a mountain to get home (of course come down that same mountain in the morning). On the weekends, I have been quite busy with mostly highway driving though, so I honestly thought I'd be pulling in better numbers at this point but it keeps going up for now, even if only .1 mpg/week haha.

Thanks for the additional comments. Yeah I had an 11 6.7 diesel before Raptor and with the Carli 4.5" suspension and King shocks it rode pretty nice for what it was that was a dream truck of mine just like the Raptor. Need to go drive a Tremor for sure and check out the ride.

Good to hear the mpg's on the V8 most of my driving in Raptor is normal mode as a lot of traffic local and on hwy not much need for sport.

I hope they keep the Azure Gray for 24 that seems to be the color I like right now. There are a couple others and I have always had a lot of white trucks as well.

I should note that the '18 Lariat Ecoboost I had before this, doing the same route, had me around 18 mpg in the winter and 19 mpg in the summer on KO2's.
