Anyone installed a Raptor steering wheel? I did on my current '17 and use the paddle shifters a lot when driving in canyons, so its something I want to do when the Tremor arrives, especially since it seems like it will be even easier on the 21+ trucks as I shouldnt need to do any additional wiring to get the paddle shifters working. My only issue though is the red stripe on the steering wheel. On my '17 it is fine, but feels like it would be out of place in the Tremor with all the orange accents. On older models you could get a Raptor wheel from Ford with an orange stripe instead of red, but I havent come across that for the 21+. The other thought I had was to paint the red stripe orange, but feel like trying to get the right shade of orange in leather paint could be tough.

I think that small amount of red on the wheel would be fine. I did like the Raptor steering wheel better and don’t know why they didn’t just use it on the Tremor.

You're telling me we can put paddle shifters on these trucks?!?! I'm in. I think you should go ahead and try it and tell us how it works!

People on other forums/FB have already done the swap and verified it works. What seems to be hit or miss a bit is if the paddles work without additional wiring. The higher trim level trucks seem to already have the wiring in place for the paddles to work with no additional wiring or Forscan needed. Haven’t seen a Tremor do it yet, but I would bet the wiring is already in place.

Before I can do it I need Ford to build my truck.

You and me both waiting. Do you have a link to any of the posts about the swap? I’m really interested in this

The red stripe wouldnt bother me, but the “RAPTOR” logo would definitely be out of place.

Do you know the part number for the 21+ Raptor steering wheel?

Here’s what I’ve found from a post on fb:

“Finally got around to installing my new Raptor steering wheel. Looks good to me. Went for a quick ride and it dampens the road feedback alot. Feels more luxurious. Paddle shifters are not operational as a harness IS needed. Seems that the need for a harness is 50/50 as some say all they did was install it and they worked. I think single cabs may be the ones that all require additional wiring and perhaps some lower trim crew cabs. Not sure just yet. They will be 100% operation tomorrow once I've had a few minutes to lay out a harness.

The steering wheel I bought is heated.
Part # ML3Z3600BB”

Thats the FB post I was thinking of. That guy runs Boosted Gray Goose and he makes harnesses for lots of parts swaps. There are comments on that post of others who did NOT need a harness. I got a lot of my info when I did the swap on my '17 from him, although I didnt by his harness and rather made my own.

Here is a writeup on swapping a steering wheel on the previous gen. From what I have seen it is basically the same (minus the wiring for heat or paddles), but the holes to remove the air bag are different on the 21+: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/heated-steering-wheel-installation-419608/

Here is a writeup on how to remove the 21+ steering wheel: https://www.f150forum.com/f129/removing-steering-wheel-airbag-504177/

I was hoping someone had already done the swap in a Tremor so I could see how bad the red stripe clashes.

Bringing this thread back to see if anyone on here has done this and has pics to see how the red stripe looks in the interior with orange accents.

Now that I finally have my truck, I would not do this. I actually like the way the orange stitching matches.

I love the paddle shifters but I don't want to remove the sick orange stitching and have the "raptor" logo on the wheel.
What to do what to do...

These guys make some killer wheels. They show 2021, but the button layout is still the gen13 style. When they catch up this is the way to go. Completely customizable, but not for the budget crowd.

The "Raptor" on the wheel would kill it for me. That goes back to the Tremor being a poor man's Raptor and you really wanted the Raptor.

@BarryT82 did you ever complete this swap? Were you able to do anything about the 'Raptor' logo?

Not having the Raptor logo is easy. That piece is just a trim piece that you can pop off and you put your stock piece on from your steering wheel

You can remove the entire trim piece along with the buttons. Most people swap the trim and buttons from their existing steering wheel. Right now I have a few of the steering wheels with black stitching and a few with code orange (red) stitching.
