Hey all. I just brought home my new 2022 402a last night and half the way home we realized the rear seat armrest wont fold down. I can’t believe we didn’t try it out at the dealership when I test drove it. I folded the armrest down on several different trucks as we test drove them.

It partially opens and then just stops, like something is stuck in the hinge. I can squeeze my hand back behind it and near the hinge, but don’t feel anything out of the ordinary. It sits perfectly flush with the rest of the seat when closed and doesn’t look off. I tried searching the web and can’t find anything on this.

The dealer I bought it from is 3.5 hrs away. My only other thought is to stop at my local dealer for help. Anyone else having issues.

Any dealer should be able help you out regardless of where you bought it.

“Should” being the operative word. Some dealers like to play the ‘did you buy it here’ game. But, I digress, take it to a dealer and hopefully they’ll help you out with little issue.

That’s what I was thinking too. Hopefully it’s something simple.

They get paid from ford either way for a warranty claim. Might not be able get to get it in as quick as if one had bought it from them...

I know that and you know that. But those shenanigans don’t curry favor and only serve to harm the manufacturer and not the dealer.

Try putting your passengers side back rest down to see if you can get a better idea what's blocking it

I put down both sides, hoping I could maybe access it through the back of the seat, but no luck. I have squeezed my hand all around the hinge location through the front of the seat and don’t feel like anything is in there.

I’ll definitely post if I figure out the solution or if the service department fixes the issue.

UPDATE: I ended up taking the truck into my local dealer to have them see what they could do. From talking to the service rep, they had to open up the seat and unbolt the armrest mechanism. The service rep said that it was "off its track and catching on a cover plate". The notes on the paperwork said they removed and reinstalled the hinge bolt and that seemed to fix the issue. Either way, fixed under warranty.
