Hi guys,

Been reading through a lot of the threads here & trying to figure out how I want to modify my Tremor suspension from new when I receive my truck in a couple months, it seems like these trucks are certainly not quite as easy to dial-in as a stock F-150.. so please bear with me here as I try to organize my thoughts & intentions with this build.

To give an idea of what I’m looking for, I test drove several Fords during the purchasing process and my favourite suspension by far was the Ranger Raptor on “Sport” setting, it felt firm and planted on road with limited body roll, still more than acceptable damping for me through potholes, speed bumps and other obstacles that simulated off-road to a certain extent, although I did not test that truck off-road.

I will use my Tremor on a lot of Forest Service Roads for remote camping, hunting & fishing access, I plan to regularly roll with payloads nearing max between cab and bed, with little to no towing beyond a small jon boat/trailer combo that is under 1000lbs.

So with those requirements in mind, is there any recommendation where I should start? I’m thinking about doing just rear shocks to begin, my only complaint with the tremor is the rear body roll and float feeling on cornering and bumps, eventually I’d like to do suspension all around for a 1.5-2” lift increase over stock, but I am also fighting with myself over whether I should increase stock ride height at all when I change suspension, as I want to get an extended warranty, and would prefer to not mess with cv angles too much in case that makes me ineligible for repairs, I hate how levelling kits ride, but would like something closer to a 34”-35” tire down the road, so I know I will likely have to do something with the front eventually, is there a rear shock upgrade I can eventually pair with a front shock/strut UCA upgrade you guys like that’s designed for heavy payloads? I know it’s a have my cake and eat it too situation so need some sobering thoughts on where to start and where that can eventually take me as an incremental approach.

The Fox 2.5 and Halo 2.5 rear shocks both intrigue me as a starting point, but unsure whether it makes sense to get them as a rear only kit to start, then do the front later, should I look at air bag or bump stop upgrades that will help me bear payloads between 800-1200lbs in the bed without excessive sag and stiffen the rear suspension at the same time instead of shocks altogether, and just do full suspension down the road when I’m ready for 35” tires?

Feeling a little lost here, sorry for the novel length read! Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Forgot to mention, but would a RAS kit for the rear be a potential fix-all starting point? Do suspension upgrades later?

On Monday morning, contact this company and tell them what you’re going to or want to do with your new TREMOR.

I'm similar to you I have a Super Pacific X1 cap. For now I put res suspension springs on. I also haul a £10,000 dump trailer occasionally. I was waiting for a good shock spring package to become available preferably with King shocks on it. I also run a warned winch hidden in the bumper so I would like update spring capacity on the front end.

As a second to what @CAMDENN said, Shock Surplus (I believe) did some vids on the YouTubes comparing different suspension types and their thoughts having compared them. They were blinded to the brands they were testing to not show favoritism. They should have some good answers for you, too, if you get in touch.

For what it's worth, I've used the Elka/Halo IFP 2.5 rear suspension and it served me well, even when weighed down pretty heavy, but it did seem to sag a bit in the bag when loaded. With that said, I'm considering switching to a different brand/style for rear suspension (keeping the Elka/Halo 2.5 coilovers in front) to get a bit more performance in the back end, but I can't complain about the Elkas.

I’m going to call Shock Surplus today as per Camden’s recommendation. Live in BC, Canada but we drive down to see family in SF & Riverside every few years so I could actually plan a trip around being a customer there. Will let you guys know the results!

They recommended to do rear shocks first before doing fronts so I can see how the constant bed load from the overlanding gear would affect rake/squat. Said Bilstein 8112’s are firmer and would likely be a good fit, then could supplement with a sumo bumpstop kit if I needed more support. Think that’s what I’m going to go with and then do adjustable fronts later to get the front end up for 35” tires. YMMV but hope this helps others looking at the same mods.

I would consider going with the Icon rears as they are the only shocks that are made to the specific tremor length and travel as far as I know. The Bilstein 8112's look to be over 2" shorter than the stock extended length so they could damage the shock during top out over time.

I have the full Icon kit and the rear shocks definitely made the rear end feel much better and controlled especially with some weight in the bed.

Thanks for the added insight, I think the halo kits and the Icons are the only 2 I’m aware of actually made to the Tremor spec length, the Halo’s are pretty expensive when converted to CAD with shipping and everything but we can source Icons here. I’ll give those a look-over. Appreciate the input!

That would work out very well for you.
Travel to Cali to visit family and let Shock Surplus install everything for you and see how you like it when you drive back home.😎

Win win.

I think eventually I’m going to do a Eibach 2R kit for good street manners/towing. But for the time being I got a pair of Elka rears on right now. They’ve made a huge difference.

Was extremely happy with adding the FOX SVT's to replace the rear stock tremor shocks. Def made a nice difference in the ride. Plug and play, and didnt break the bank. As with everyone depends on your use.
