What does everyone’s recovery kit look like?

Here’s what I keep in the truck- Am I missing anything?

*(X3) 4” x 30’ -recovery straps 17.5k lb max vehicle weight. 35k breaking strength.
*(X4) Web shackle w/ 2” web width 17.5k lb cap.
*(1) 2” receiver w/ tow ring - 8k cap.

I’ve got traction mats (gotread) and 2 shackles that have all of the different tow hook fittings for car frame holes as well, I end up pulling a lot of cars out of the snow. A hatchet, shovel, and jack base are pretty helpful as well as one of those battery jumper cable things. I’ve jumped almost as many cars as I’ve pulled out with my tiny little battery box!

Haha that's my same kit just different traction mats.

Add in overalls, gloves, first aid kits and a safety beacon for those blizzards on the highways when I'm pulling out a Dodge that got too čočky.

So I need to add traction mats… Check!

Kitty litter or a bag of sand works in place of traction mats as well.

I always carry a 50lb bag of sand and a 20lb bag of ice melt when calling for snow, as well as a chainsaw, but I live in the mountains of NETN, trees have a tendency to come down with the heavy wet snows we get around here. Also I tend to carry a 5 gallon can of gas.

Yeah I've got sand bags for weight in the back and they come in handy.

If you have old car floor mats they work in a pinch. I found the recovery boards I have work better if everythings ice or their stuck in real deep snow.

I also carry my jack-all and heavy duty mil-spec straps.

In addition to the OP I also carry:

Kinetic Rope
Shovel
Axe
Air compressor
Kit to air up all 4 tires at once - (after intentionally airing down)
Tire repair kit
Come-along w/ snatch block
Tree strap
Jumper cables
Blocks for jack
Lug nut wrench (not the one that comes with the truck)
Tool kit
Duct tape
Zip ties
Paracord
Toilet Paper
First Aid kit
Fire starting material and lighter
Flashlights
Knife
Pistol and/or rifle
Extra jacket
Blanket

Some great thoughts here and appreciate RotorHead695's expanded list. It is easy for me to fill the bed with gear for any situation, so boiling down to the essentials for two situations is my main goal. First goal, have the resources to resume movement if the truck gets stuck or breaks (within reason of how much gear that entails). The second goal is to have survival essentials if the first goal fails or the weather conditions preclude safe travel.

I need to fill in a few things on the unstuck part of the kit.

Luckily with modern materials you can get warm jackets and emergency blankets that pack to almost nothing. I carry a coat and gloves for all 5 members of the fam and they all fit easily in a little bag under the rear passenger side seat with plenty of room left for toolkit, flairs, fire starter ect..

I really appreciate the lists guys. This is something that I have been thinking a lot about lately and its great to see these lined up.

Question.

If you had to choose between a tow strap and a kinetic rope which one would you carry?

Tow strap.

Going to post my list later today and pics when my truck comes in.

Curious what kit you are using for airing up all 4 tires at once? I looked at the Indeflate but they didn't think the hoses would be long enough with the 145" wheel base.

That's tough....probably the tow strap, but it has the risk of breaking. At least you could tow with it if needed though. That's why I carry both.

I went with this kit and added in the built in gauge:

This was a good topic to start considering half the US is about to be hit with a major snow, they are saying up to 12" here on Sunday, it's a shame I have to drive through it to go to work ;)

After watching Matt’s Off Road Recovery a bunch of times I’m a fan of the kinetic ropes (y)
Ha! I love that channel.
I'm not sure why, but I love it.

And I'm thinking the kinetic is the way I'm going. I don't plan on towing anything but I DO plan on getting the truck stuck a few dozen times.
