Anyone else have a restraints indicator light that turned into BIG trouble? When I drove my truck off the lot I noticed the restraints indicator light on my dash. I didn't think anything of it in the moment (I was excited ok?!). I got a notification in my FordPass app to take my truck to a dealer immediately. I schedule an appointment and they were 1 month out. I drove my truck a little over 1,000 miles in that time. When I finally got the truck into the dealer they informed me that my driver's airbag was non-functional and the truck unsafe to drive. Apparently, in the factory they installed the control wire to the airbag too short so the first time that the steering column position was adjusted (probably by the dealer) the plastic connector piece for that wire broke and the light kicked on. Now for the fun part. That little 5 cent connector is a new part for the 2022 model year. It was not available for the dealer to order or install. In fact, it is so new that the only place it can be found I am told is on the factory floor being installed into new trucks. That connector is back ordered for dealership use for potentially 2-3 months. The dealer has assured me that they have escalated this all the way up at Ford and are working to get resolution but my brand new, 2022 Tremor is being held hostage by the dealer. Truthfully they said I could come pick it up but they don't recommend it as it is unsafe to drive and since it is an issue that is known and they warned me against it no insurance policy would cover me in an accident...
I will keep posting updates about this but am really curious if anyone had this same issue and got other information from their dealer. I don't want to sit without my truck if this dealer is lying to me or just doesn't know any better. TIA!
