Looking at the retrax pro and the Diamond back pro covers. I will be installing Yakima overhaul rack.

This will be an adventure build for the family. Racks will carry kayaks and bikes. I may add another layer (basket) as a third storage level.

I lose space with the retrax for the canister and lose access to the full bed with the Diamond back.

Looking for feedback, likes/dislikes and experiences with these tonneaus.

I have a diamondback HD and I love it. The ability to put massive amounts of weight on top was crucial for me. I actually just reposted in an old thread I had about racks and stuff a second ago, might be of interest, might not.

My only issue is the bed access with a lot of rack systems. Diamondback does have a couple on their site listed that will allow access while unloaded, but obviously not while loaded. The question is which of those 2 if more valuable to you, for me the carry capacity made the decision.

Any Pictures?

There are pictures in here of a few types.

I installed a Peragon bed cover. It's a hard top aluminum that folds accordion style at the front and down rather than up an blocking the window. Its low profile and they released a textured matte black finish when I ordered and looks real nice. One big positive is there is a quick release that let's you pop it out of the rails to remove in under 10 seconds. Only cons I can see with it so far is that if you plan on using the boxlink/builtright panels up front where the cover retracs, the downward rails do occupy that area so it would make those useless since you wouldn't be able to access them.

I did the Retrax Powertrax as I plan on getting the UpTop bed rack or the leitner Design rack. I kinda wish I would have went with the Mountain Top Evo-M.

Clearly this set up requires the racks to be empty to access the bed, but would seem to fit your use. BTW, when you buy the racks from diamondback they ship you all the stuff you need to fit the racks without the cover if you change your mind.

I went with the Retrax because I have crap on the rack but need to open and close the cover to fetch stuff at times. Plus you use the bed like an open bed still for truck stuff, aka dirt etc. None of the other options really worked for my use cases. I have stuff in the bed and stuff on the track when camping, and want to open and close the cover.

I've been looking at the exact same covers lately and I ruled out the Diamond back cause I don't want to have to take my kayak down when I need to access the bed or remove the whole cover for dirt/rocks, I don't like the idea of the retrax canister taking up bed space either. What I am going to try is the Bak Revolver x4s with the Truxedo Elevate TS rails for attaching the Yakima overhaul. From what I've researched they should all work together, but I'm not sure anyone has actually tried it. I would but my truck won't be built until later this month, until I get it I just have a pile of parts for it in the garage.

Ha, I'm about 2 months out to getting my Tremor and was researching the same combo--Bak x4s, Elevate TS rails and Yakima Overhaul. Same conclusion, sounds like it would work, but only found one person that actually put the Overhaul on the TS Rails--sounds like it worked. Keep us updated if you do the combo also!

This is what I think I'm going to go with on my diamondback, if you have any interest in these covers still. It allows you to open it as well.

That is basically the set up I am planning. Maybe add cross bars below the ladder rack for the basket I already have.
So far I am thinking retrax pro + yakima over haul.

Curios to know if anyone has experience with this brand

My neighbor has this brand on his trail boss. Seems strong and good quality.

I'm running retrax pro. 98% water tight. Very dust proof. I like the v channel feature. Can do bed racks, rooftop tents, ect

I second that Diamonback. I had one on my Tacoma for years. And the HD should be here tomorrow for the Tremor.

Why Mountain Top over the Retrax?

Why Mountain Top over the Retrax?
It has a smaller canister, better drainage system and can hold 450lbs. The lid on the canister easily opens to clean it. It also opens from the bottom by pulling a cord. I bought the powered version so it would work with all the racks. The non powered Retrax the opening lever can hit some rack systems and accessories, Not letting it open or be a pain to open. The powered version is $700-$800 more.
