It's definitely a thing where the rear diff is rusty af. Some try and go the warranty way, but I just washed it and climbed under there and played arts and crafts with some black paint and a small brush.

While unsightly, it’s just surface rust and it’s normal on many makes of vehicles.

Expect this to be the norm especially where you’re located.

Get some amsoil HD metal protector to spray on it. It’s a wax spray that hardens it will also darken the rust to make it less noticeable. I did this on my 2018 and 6 years later it still looks new like a matte finish.

I live in New York Every Spring if I run the truck through the winter I put it on my lift and spray paint every black piece of metal underneath there.

Do you sand the area first, or just spray it over the rust area?
