s1 or s2 type recommendations?

I'm looking for suggestions for two single or a double diode pod (S1 or S2 type). I have a 12V feed, 1.5A available and it need to be reasonably weather resistant. Oh, and not $240...
I checked KC, DD, BD and Heretic, holy crap those guys like their name for something so small.

I can only speak for the BD S1s, but I have been very impressed. I had a pair as ditch lights on my Tacoma for years and they are still running strong (sold truck to a friend). But possibly a better testament to their weather resistance is the pair I use as docking lights installed under my pontoon. They don't get as much "run time" but have held up great for a couple years now and they for sure get wet with a high pressure spray. We ran that boat 160+ hours last year alone.

a single SSC2 Sport from DD is $90 and .6A current draw at 12.8v. this seems to meet your criteria.

Yeah they both do. I'm such a cheap bastard, I was trying to find that perfect led, for less. After seeing what decent quality ebike lights go for, I guess I should ante up for something I know is better and stronger and still under $100

I hear ya. on my last vehicle(nissan xterra), i had multiple lights and none of them were the name brands and it showed. the powdercoat was crap and would start peeling off and led chips in the bars would go out. that's what pushed me to use Diode Dynamics this time around and i've been very happy with them. the design is nice, so far, they are holding up well in the FL heat/salty air, and the output is great.

i've tried to be strategic and buy during their sales to alleviate some of the sticker shock, but they are still much cheaper than Baja or rigid.

Yeah, I think you called it. I need to wait for a sale so my inner poor primate can be satisfied with the choice. I like the idea of the s2 type so to see a decent distance ahead of me while having a flood
