This problem started about 14 days after I bought the truck with a notchy feeling steering wheel, then I would get the error in front of the steering wheel, clear it, and it would drive normally. I did lose all other drive modes besides Normal but at least it worked. I took it to the dealership I bought it from and they told me I need a software update but there isn't one out for this truck yet because it was so new.

About 2 weeks ago I went outside and I get the same error, but as I start the car this time, and I have zero power steering. I have scheduled an appointment to see my local dealership but the soonest they could get me in is October 13th. Just thought I would post it here for anyone else experiencing this issue. I will post what my local dealership says after I drop it off on the 13th.

Please keep us posted on progress and sorry to hear. I find these threads most valuable for the community for future reference.

The dealer sounds like a typical dealer, sel, sell, sell forget service. The dealer and Ford are responsible for this, the dealer should either get your truck towed to the dealership or if drivable bring it to them. Then the dealer should provide you a vehicle (free of charge) to drive until your vehicle is fixed. Who is the dealership?

The dealership I bought from is Sanders Ford in Jacksonville, NC. I’ll be taking it to a dealership in Wilmington, NC this time as I have heard negative things about Sanders Ford’s service department prior to this issue.

I agree with everything you said. I am the only person in my house that can drive the truck without power steering and I definitely expect a loaner vehicle while I wait.

I foresee a Ford EcoSport as your loaner vehicle, the last two times I've had to get one that's what they gave me because that is what Ford pays for as loaners, now you might get them like I did to loan you a used truck if you need a truck but only for limited mileage.

I dropped it off today and my local dealership called me to let me know they’re replacing the chips in the steering column. No delay in parts other than ordering it so I have a 3 day turn around but I’ll take it. The only other person I found with this issue was via YouTube and he commented later and said Ford bought it back. I’m really enjoying this truck so I’m pumped that isn’t my scenario.
