Anyone planning (or already executed) addition of shell to their truck? If so, pics and opinions appreciated. Truck hasn't arrived yet, and still going back and forth on it, for travel, camping, etc. Also, any reason not to use a standard 5.5 F150 bed shell? Thanks!

For me (@340 pounds) a tradituinal truck shell would fold like a wet paper bag with the roof top tent on top. I'm looking at the RSI but haven't pulled the trigger, yet.

I’ve definitely toyed around with the idea. I’ve never had a shell befor but I’m starting to think it would be way more useful than my tonneau cover. It’s a big, expensive leap though!

I've also never owned a shell, but with lifestyle these days (fam, travel, camping, most hardware excursions, etc), I'd be inclined to explore. The buddies who have them, swear by them. Likely not an immediate purchase, but curious mostly whether they need to be Tremor-tailored for whatever reason, or whether the standard F150 variety will do.

Huh.. Those EVO shells are pretty boss, @Yeti ... Thanks for pointing out.

I'm leaning towards the commercial but even @ $3,200 I am entertaining a GFC @ $8,500. I love the idea of standing up in the truck bed. My current RTT (CVT) is terrible. Well, the design is good but the materials rotted in my garage over 1.5 years. Yup, everything was dry, clean and done correctly. my ground tents, hammocks and awnings all also reside in the same location.

I’m looking for a shell. Considering the RSI smart cap as well. Love the ruggedness and durability. You trade some fit/finish/refinement, color matching (unless even more $$$) and more money.
I’m not as big as @Yeti but I have roof load considerations. Strong potential for a RTT for at least two people, sometimes an inflatable drift boat, etc. Can’t get a ‘basic’ fiberglass shell for that. So the price difference between a fiberglass one and an RSI narrows.

I had a snug top on my 2013 Tundra with a Yakima rail system and reinforced top from the factory. We had 125 lb tent and three people about 450 lbs without any issues. The RSI is legit and have a friend with one.

Yeah, the commercial looks solid... Liking that...

Funny, I folded a Yakima on a rough trail with only the 185 pound tent on it. I think the side to side torque was too much dynamic weight. They were really great about the refund, though. Basically some CS/Eng director reached out to get additional info for real world testing. I went with the Leitner after that. It was definitely better(and bigger) but not perfect. After my experience with real dust in Wyoming in 21, I'm definitely leaning towards an enclosure.

I've always been a canopy guy, but loved the looks of a tonneau cover. I tried one out for a year when I got my current truck, but just kept running out of space. Sold the tonneau and went back to a canopy. All in all, tonneau cover still win in the looks department, but loses when it comes to utility.

You can get the lower end canopies for around $1500 new. My last canopy was low end and I found a color matched used one on Craigslist for $500. Used it for 8 years on two different trucks and sold it for $700. Only maint I did was new window seals and hydraulics arms over the 8 years.

Standard F150 variety will do. The bed dimensions are the same across the entire F150 family to include Raptors.

I actually love the color contrast. Ties in well with my other black accessories.

That truck looks really nice man............
Thank you! I may still join the Tremor club. Chickened out on my Tremor order and will reassess my towing needs in 2-3 years while this supply chain crap settles down.
