Hey. I’m new here, recently picked up my new 402a. Unfortunately I have an alignment issue and the dealer I purchased from is 2 hrs away. I’d like to take it to my local guy, but he’s not super gentle. Do they need to remove the skid plate to do an alignment? What about oil changes?

I'm not sure about an alignment. On oil changes you don't have to. There is an access panel in the skid plate to allow access to change the oil filter so you don't have to remove the whole skid plate.

Also, not being "super gentle" isn't good for a mechanic. Find someone good.

I remove mine all the time , No big Deal. If your talking about the one up front on the 402a.

My hands are to big to work through that small hole to change the filter.

No they shouldn't have to remove the skid plate to do an alignment, but it depends on the shop.

There's really nothing a non-gentle person can break in there, it's a solid piece of aluminum. It's not like they are timing an engine.

Oil changes are easy enough. The port-hole in front lets oil drain out from the filter oil gutters. The proper way to change the filter is to come at it from the side in front of the tire, between the skid plate and the engine bay.

Hey SaskTremor

What part of Sask are you from? Originally from Saskatoon but live in Davidson now…

When I did my winch install, one of the spring clips cross threaded the bolts. Not a big fan of that design I had the same kind of skid plate in a 92 Chevy 1 ton. I don't know why they don't weld nuts on there instead of using those crappy spring clips
