So I saw this system and was very skeptical about it. https://streamtoyourcar.com/ Anyway, I finally got it it and set it up and holy crap it works! Can stream Netflix, web browse, etc on it. Seems to be worth the money so far.

You used to be able to do that from an app till Ford stopped it, odds are they eventually do the same to this, so no way will I pay that much to do it. If they would've left well enough alone to begin with, free entertainment for the kid.

Well you plug this device in to your usb and it shows up as an iphone and you aren't screen mirroring your phone so I am not sure if there is a way to block it or not but so far so good.

If you are on Android do it for free
Look up AAAD

Now this is nice. Definitely setting this up lol. $~300 for the USB stick is steeeeep

I got AAAD and was able to use the carstream app. Android auto mirror won't work unless you root your phone and Patch it to bypass the block google has on it, which I'm going to do when I'm back home.

Carstream is cool for YouTube though, my girlfriend was watching the office.

Let me know how that goes.been thinking about rooting the phone or just get a cheap android phone and then root it

Got AA mirror plus to work without the root. I was able to stream from my NAS plex home server... I'm streaming from my home server 1000 miles away to my truck screen while it drives me home by itself. What the fk guys lol, I'm literally baffled and amazed.

Little laggy because I'm in the mountains and the service is iffy.

We're/are you guys able to get anything other than youtube to stream? My wife tried netflix and hbo and the controls showed, there was audio, but the video itself wouldn't show. I assume it's something the apps have to block mirroring, but I can cast them just fine on my Xbox, so I wasn't sure.

Netflix and those apps will block mirroring. You can get past it on some of them, like Hulu, if you use the browser and in developer settings disable hardware acceleration (I've been able to watch Hulu live TV like this).

Plex will not block mirroring from the app. I haven't found a way to get Netflix to work.

Can you make it the entire screen or just that section of it?
It doesn't do anything fancy inside the SYNC system, it just uses the Apple Car Play protocol to display an alternative setup. Still limited by the confines of regular CarPlay with regards to SYNC.
