Is it possible to drop the strut enough to get the studs down through the coil bucket without completely disassembling everything? Basically, keep the bottom connected to the lower control arm and get access to the top of the strut...

You might be able to if you disconnect your upper control arm from the steering knuckle and drop the lower control arm as low as it can go, but at that point you might as well just do the job right.

Short answer: No

Sounds like someone is trying to install spacers.

yes, but 1/2" spacers to gain an inch since I've been told the studs are long enough to slide the 1/2" spacer on and still get full engagement with the nut. Which is why the question about dropping enough to get the studs out since no extra space should be needed since the studs still end at the same spot. Still not a fan of leveling but doing my homework because I'm skeptical that 295's will not rub stock...

Proceed with caution.

Based on the video, if a 2.5" spacer loses 1-5/8" travel (from 7" to 5-3/8"), a 1" spacer would lose about 1/8" travel but would essentially have the same upward and downward travel as stock but would risk binding/contact at the very edge of full extension. And, of course, this could all be a little different on the Tremor.

The better handling of the larger, heavier tires is a factor too but again, just how different is the Tremor suspension from an XLT or Lariat?
