2nd visit with this. 1st time they couldn’t replicate the issue. Mother Nature assisted today. Headliner is soaked and it’s dripping from the speaker into the passenger seat.

Wow,that way more water than normal. So you probably have two problems. What ever is letting so much water in and the drain tubes are kinked or plugged.

Isn't there a write up on preventative maintenance for this?

Anyone link here?

I love sunroofs.
And think every car I’ve ever owned has had one. From a 1958 vintage Porsche to a 2018 Mini Cooper, and everything in between.
Never had a single ‘issue’.
When ordering and choosing options for my 2023 Tremor, the long time Ford salesman said, “Don't get the sunroof. It will have issues eventually.”

Is there something particular about Ford’s design that’s prone to manufacturing defects?

Well, we have had plenty of rain in the Triangle ro show a problem. I park my truck outside and have had zero issues, thank goodness. Hope you get yours resolved.

The sunroof is a maintenance item. There are plenty of YouTube videos and a TSB. There is a special grease you use. Krytox, keep it cleaned, lubricated and cycle it often and you won’t have any trouble. Most people are unaware of the maintenance and Ford should add it to the oil change service. It doesn’t take long and the tube of expensive grease last a long time once you get it back in shape. Avoid drive through car washes that have the super strong blowers. They force debris into the roof and if a drain tube is plugged they can blow them off. And you will find any vehicle with a panoramic sunroof has the same issues.

Thanks for this! One more thing I need to do for the Aviator and Tremor . Also, it would be great to have a sticky with maintenance items by mileage including these sorts of items. Care to compile?

+1.. I snagged a new 2oz tube of Krytox from Amazon Warehouse for $31 a few years back, keep an eye on the product page if you're not in a rush - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MWLD8UO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I had to clean the drains and pull the damn headliner from my last Audi to reseal the connections; still ordered one on my F150. There are only a handful of suppliers that provide these sunroof systems to OEMs, this isn't isolated to Ford regardless of what people may claim.

Is there an alternative to Krytox? $70 for 2oz of product is ridiculous. Amazon price history for it gives me zero hope of getting it for $31.

Think TW25B would work as an alternative?

Ordered without on purpose, don't want any leaks and my bald head isn't a fan of sunroofs either!
:)

Will be taking mine in for 2nd visit next week. 1st time was told drain was clogged, they cleaned it out and ran a hose for awhile. Ok, things happen from the factory. The rain gods let loose this week and it’s raining from my headliner onto passenger seat. I’m in a high humidity area so concerned about mold and moisture damage. This is my 3rd F-150 (15 XLT, 19 Platinum) with sunroof and first with an issue.

Krytox is very spendy and I need to get some.
Hopefully it’ll go on sale for Prime Day on Tuesday.

3M silicone lubricant paste has been used on sunroofs for decades and I’ve never had a problem. 1 time per year and your set

3m paste what all the shops I’ve worked in used. What I use on my 2014 sunroof.

Was this on your brand new 2024?? How long have you had it? Doesn't sound like it's a maintenance thing if it hasn't been around long enough to need maintenance.

Most of time easy fix of drain tube came off plastic fitting in rail area on one of four corners.
Other common problem, which was mine when leaking, some sort dirt/bug clogs up drain tube. Blew the line out with air and flushed with water until verified coming out drain tube bottom of truck. Was a pain because had to take head liner down, not out, but still took a few hours in driveway to complete. Being your truck is new not your problem to fix.

My memory is terrible but for some reason I think I put zip tie on tube to the rail drain fitting.

Yes, brand new. Purchased about 30 days ago. This is the second time back for the same leak. Just became way easier to see given last week's down pour.

Checked in today. Still haven't found the source. They're dropping the headliner next.
