Need to know if anyone has purchased an aftermarket rear step that will work on a 2022 F-150 Tremor with exhaust pipes through the rear bumper? Amp research doesn't make one and according to them they are the provider to FOMOCO for tailgate steps. Very disappointed in Fords design not to provide a tailgate step.

I remember looking because my 400a doesn't have the fancy Ford built in tailgate step system but you are correct.
The AMP research one mounts normally where the rear tow hooks are mounted and the exhaust is also very much in the way.
There's a variety of aftermarket tailgate steps and ladders available and I'm sure someone can figure out a cost for the oem tailgate system but I just keep a stepstool. Cheap, easy to use, fast to replace if needed.

I appreciate your remedy, but that's a bit rough for a vehicle that cost over 70K to have to carry a stepstool to access the bed. I would think Ford would have a better solution to fix a foo pa like this one. Thank you anyway!

There is a design, it's in the tailgate step that comes if you pay for it. If not, put a step in your hitch or use one of the ones that attaches to the frame on the corner of the bumper underneath.

Obviously, you haven't been following the thread, There is no step that will fit under the bumper due to the exhaust pipe that protrudes through the bumper. There isn't enough beef on the side panel of the pick up bed to bolt a step to it either. This is a huge screw up on Fords part not to be able to put a standard step to be able to reach into the bed. I bought my truck off a dealer lot in inventory otherwise I would of had the step put into the tailgate. I was told that I could get an aftermarket step but never told it wouldn't fit due the exhaust pipe issue. Even AMP who supposedly makes the steps for Ford doesn't have a design for one. Really disappointing.

In order to get a tailgate now the cost is around 3-4K, by the time you get it painted, move the cameras and everything else. Why a dealer wouldn't order it when they placed there inventory order is beyond me, I guess it probably was a supply problem and in order to get the truck they had to keep it as simple as possible.

So again it's not really Ford's problem because they do offer one. You just don't have it. That's all I'm saying. Stop blaming Fords design because your dealer didn't order it with the step they offer, or you didn't custom order the truck lol. No one with the step has your issue.... Because they took the optional step addon.

You just seem to be upset at other factors when it's really that you bought a truck without the step and now you want it.

It would have been cheaper for him to get the bed package at $995. Now, he blames Ford.

I’m with Cranberry on this one. Can’t be mad or disappointed knowingly buying a truck without the step. But look at this one.
Tail Gate Step
Read the reviews and the ones with negative comments seam to stand out, not really interested in drilling holes in tailgate, nor having leveling issues, and seriously don't want rust issues. I looked at all these on line. I finally found one that may work well on Weather Tech. They have one that fits the trailer hitch receiver. It's rated up to 300 lbs so that's way more than sufficient. It's ordered I'll let you all know how it works.
Thanks for all your inputs.

Again you don't get it, there were no vehicles on the lot to be had. I had to settle for what was available to me. I would of ordered it if I could of but am already waiting on a F-250 and didn't want to wait another 10 months on a truck with a step. Weather Tech seams to have solved my dilemma.

So you got what you got, nobody made you buy that truck. If you wanted one with a tailgate step you should have waited to find one. Sell the truck or lose some weight you can get in without a step. But don't come in here bitching because of your mistake.

Why not just get one of the tailgate steps for the receiver hitch.

That's the point I was trying to make. He wanted a step, but took whatever was available rather then wait. You can only blame yourself for that. I'm tired of waiting too, but want the truck equipped as I want, so I wait.
