Well - with a few members going through adding a Torsen front differential to our trucks I thought it would be wise to consolidate information in to one place to help each other out!

The Ford Performance part number is M-4204-F150LS which is confirmed by Torsen directly to be the correct part.
Based on my internet research the carrier bearings needed are XW4Z-4221-AA along with the bearing races/cones D9AZ-4222-A. These are the Ford part numbers.

I was quoted $550 for the labor to install the diff by a local offroad shop in SLC, UT. They're a few weeks out but hopefully I'll have this installed soon!

Anyone else going through this journey... share your info and experiences!

Great post, this is the one functional off-road option that I wanted but truck on the lot did not have when I purchased. Looking forward to hear how the install goes.

How much for all the parts and was there a wait?
Ford Performance was having a 20% off sale a couple of weeks ago so I took advantage of that. But otherwise you can find the diff for right around $700. No wait when I ordered it but I can't promise that now.

Not seeing the 20% off at this time — watching for it.

Update - I got my Torsen installed on Friday! A local offroad shop charged me for 5hrs of labor for the install. I gave them the bearings and cones (part numbers above) along with the differential and they got it all installed for me.

So far it drives almost exactly the same as with the open diff. Driving "spiritedly" in 4A I do feel a little bit of torque steer through the steering wheel coming out of corners due to both wheels being driven.

But in 2A it feels exactly like normal as I would expect. Next test will be some low traction situations

It works and works well, I went up a slope that even a can am didn't make it the first time because it was sloppy, wet.

It works excellent in the deep silty sand of San Felipe too. Highly recommend one to anyone that bought off the lot without one like I had to do…🍻

great one more thing to add to the wishlist... anyone have any real life feedback on what this does for snowy roads?

It works, instead of having 3 wheel drive you actually have legit 4 wheel drive, when one side starts to spin it applies the power to both sides, while not as solid as a front locker it is very effective. It has the added benefit of allowing a tighter turn radius than a full on locker.

Yup that is correct! I’d just double check and make sure that the bearings aren’t sold as a pair listed under that part number

Mind sharing the offroad shop you used in SLC?

I had my local ford dealership install this setup for $900 with the parts listed that I used to source everything. The truck even seems to drive better and smoother after the install with 38k miles on the truck.

did you need to shim the diff?

Are new bearings required or can you move them over on a low mile truck?

Jus ordered the torsen.

I honestly don’t know. I believe they’re one of those parts that need to be replaced once serviced. I got mine on Amazon on sale
