Towing Packages

Can anyone tell me the difference between
-Tow Technology Package
- Trailer Tow Package
- Max Trailer Tow Package

Sales people aren’t very clear at dealerships. Does each package have a certain weight limit? Tried to find different answers online but not really clear.

Respect what you guys have to say versus some of these salespeople…

The max trailer tow package gets all the goodies, but didn't think it was option on the Tremor, the trailer tow package gets a heavier duty hitch and a couple of other items, the tow technology package gets the standard duty hitch, and other items like the trailer backup system and maybe the electronic brake controller.

Honestly it's very confusing on the Tremors, because supposedly according to Ford they can all tow 10900 lbs, yet there's several discrepancies on that. That is the best info I can give but again that doesn't seem to apply with the Tremor.

Thanks, my biggest concern would be a transmission cooler. The Tremor I have a deposit on has the tow technology package. To be honest never seen the max tow on a Tremor myself, was just trying to figure it out on Fords website and had seen the three packages. I do a lot of towing to be honest. Have a kitchen cabinet business and use tandem trailers versus box trucks for deliveries.

In case you are unaware. The 10R80 does not have a typical air to oil cooler like the previous transmissions had. They have an oil to water heat exchanger that uses the radiator fluid for controlling temps.

Thanks, was unaware of that. Unfortunately the dealer I’m working with has not been very informative or straightforward.

i was under the impression 10900 was the tow package but infact thats a step up, I have the "tow package" and its 7000 lbs towing

tongue weight is 500 across the board and 1050 or something with a weight distribution hitch, just had to go through all that getting a travel trailer

You have the Tow Technology package or Trailer Tow package? $1090.00 is a step above the Tow Technology package on the 401A, assumed this was the highest rated? Going to be towing a travel trailer as well.

The total weight the Tremor is capable of towing with the tow package is 10900, I have no idea as to why every F150 states 7000, I had the service department call on this and this is what they were told by Ford, all tremors with the tow package are capable of towing 10900. Does that mean those without are only rated for 7k, not necessarily, if it has a class IV hitch it should still be able to tow 9k. But with tow package it's rated for 10900. Does that mean I would tow the max for prolonged periods, no, if you regularly tow 9k+ especially long distance step up to a 250 you will be happier

I stuck to a small travel trailer (24’) at 6850 lbs but still went with the weight distribution hitch

The 7k is total gross vehicle weight. At base truck weighs roughly 5k and you get 2k payload. (Nothing to do with towing)

Same hitch is on both. Between tow tech and tow package, I’ve yet to find a difference on the 2022s, if there is one it must be minor. Not sure if they changed anything on 23s though

No, not even close to towing 9K on a daily basis. Had a 250 for a daily driver all set with that. Not positive but pretty sure Ford has highest rating in it’s class.

Price…can’t see how Ford is getting a extra 2-3 hundred?

The 7000# is Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. GVWR is the maximum safe limit Ford gives the Tremor to weight by itself with passengers, cargo and tongue weight. So you do have to watch this number for towing with heavy tongue weights heavy passengers and gear its easy to push you over this number.

I haven’t had a chance to look this up, so feel free to fact check me…

I believe the tow tech package adds the trailer brake controller and the pro-trailer back up assist.

All of the other physical things remain the same, thus the ‘technology’ term tied to the optional tow package. That’s what I recall from the ‘23 packaging - not sure if it was different for ‘22.
