Trade In Value vs wait times.

I a few of you guys know me know from vin look ups. I wanted to share my situation this past week.
I go to my dealership because Ford corporate told me to. I get there and find out they fired my salesman a few months ago. Since, they have had 2-3 trucks and a Raptor/ which is there now that I would buy. No communication or contact from my old salesman or the current staff. They also told me that my truck in trade in is worth $7,000 less in the mean time.. I have only put 7,000 miles more on it the whole time I'm waiting!! I have proof of emails back in July with no reply trying to buy another truck. They agreed to sell me the Raptor at sticker price. I said ok! screw it.. then they offer my $30,000 trade in on my 16 king ranch that just hit 70,000 miles. middle of the road trade in, in Ky is $33,800. I told them give me $33,000 which apparently is asking for there first born child also. now crickets and they wont call me back or reply to emails just like before so they can sell the Raptor at a mark up! I hope no one ever buys it! A different dealership offered me $32,000 trade in and said they would dealer trade for me a Tremor.. but window stickers have gone up on them! talking about pissed!

Trade in values have gone down in the last 6 months. They will always change.

Dealer wanted to give me 31k for my wife’s SUV. Carmax offered 35k. And I sold it privately in 3 days on auto trader for $38k

I may check CarMax in my area.

Try Carvana if you can, I think Carmax tends to be the low end with Carvana generally being more.

What part of KY are you in? In December of 21 I got 34k trade in on my 17xlt fx4 at my local dealership in TN, in June of 21 they offered me 45k trade but of course they didn't have anything I wanted. Shop around a bit. If your on the eastern end head towards TN/VA and check.

I sold mine through carvana, but got prices from them all. The lowest was $4k more than the dealership wanted to pay. Been driving a beater in the interim.

Caravan offered me 2k less for my car than carmax is offering me and the Carmax offer was quite fair so I don’t think it’s gone down too much at least for more fuel efficient sedans. But I also anticipate trade in values to drop so I’m proactively selling my sedan on Wednesday to carmax and going to be sharing our SUV with the lady until my tremor comes in hopefully early January or sooner.

According to KBB, my trade has dropped $3-4k while I've been waiting and it only has 2,400 miles on it. It's getting to the point where I'm not sure I'll be getting the Tremor. If interest rates are too high and trade too low, I can't see going ahead.
