2022 Stone Gray 402A Tremor
2022 Tremor with the 3.5 and 40k miles, built circa 9/22 Correction: 7/22 according to door sticker. The issue I have been experiencing is first thing in the am when it is coldish outside I'll start up the truck, put my seatbelt on so it runs for about a minute maybe then I'll back out of my driveway. When I put it in drive and step on the gas it doesn't move, just revs. If I put it in park and back into drive it operates as normal. Once driven it doesn't have that problem the rest of the day. Sometimes if I wait a few seconds after putting it in drive it will engage on its own. In past winters I have experienced a "slam" when it down shifts while I'm leaving my neighborhood (and people turn and look at me like I don't know how to operate a vehicle because of the noise it makes). Luckily I haven't experienced the downshift slam this winter (fairly mild winter here in Colorado). Does this sound like a CDF drum issue?

Have same year as you. When cold weather hits I get the slam on first downshift then it’s fine. If I let it warm up I’m fine. Live in Mn I know cold 🥶 my truck was built in May of 2022

Thanks for the info Moe7.

I have a 22 as well that I picked up in Aug of 22 and I had it built so I definitely fall under the TSBS.

I am having the same issues but add to it that some times it also wont shift out of first until it hits around 4200 RPMs.

It also jumped out of first once in the parking lot at work and everything disengaged and the gear selector light was flashing from 3 to 8. It stayed that way until i shut it off and restarted it.

It has been in twice for this issue and all they have done is put the transmission back into learning mode which is NOT a fix or at the very least did not work for me.

The thing that gets me is that there is a TSB out there and my guy at the ford dealer did not even know about it or did but didn't tell me.

I called earlier in the week to log another non engagement / RPMS hard shift (HARD CLUNK) and they will look at it at my next oil change since of course it is working great again when I called him.

I am at over 89,000KMS and my warranty will be over in about 2 -4 months, hopefully it gets fixed before that.

Luckily I have another 2 years and 20k miles before my warranty is up, but I figured better safe than sorry. I now have an appointment at the Lincoln dealer down the street, they have repaired my rear pinon seal (twice now haha) and did my wiper motor recall. I'll mention the TSB when I drop it off. I asked about a loaner if it ends up being a major repair and they said no loaners on fords :( . I have tried taking my truck to the two Ford dealers near me in the past, but they just sit on it for days at a time without even diagnosing. This Lincoln dealer has always fixed my issue same day.

Ford knew there were issues with the transmissions when they first cam out. I had a 2019 F150 with trans issues and traded it in for the 2022 F150 Tremor. My 2022 tremor has had the trans rebuilt two times and the transfer case one time. It's still bangs into gear or clucks at times.
I have seen some videos talking about the 2026s where they are saying Ford fixed the issues. It's too bad the trans from the 2026 won't work with the 2022, much less for the 2025 and older. We are stuck with the POS trans.

Out of curiosity, was the transfer case due to the trans issue?

Have you had the trans fluid service completed yet? Im planning on servicing mine at 20k miles for my 2025.

Nope, transmission hasn't been touched as long as I have had it. I bought it used 4k miles on it and seems to have had issues since I got it.

Techguy82, i'd schedule a trans fluid/filter change asap. that can make a huge difference and have them do the transfer case and front/rear dif.

Read what Moe7 said ! Then take it to the Dealer and get it Fixed ! Sounds like a Plan !!

that 10 speed is a good transmission- no faultless- but will be very dependent on the fluid changes much earlier than what they recommend. just like oil changes- factory said 7,500 miles-im rolling 3,000k.

Heard back from the shop today, they are rebuilding the transmission. Says it will be done tomorrow. I'm assuming they have done so many they could do them with their eyes closed at this point haha. Guess we'll see how it works after it is complete.

Now I wonder... I have one month left to get an extended warranty without jumping through hoops... Pay 3k for a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty, trade it for something now, or wait till the 5yr/60k runs out (next year), or hope it doesn't have any other problems going forward? Already had rear pinion seal replaced twice, wiper motor recall, and now waiting for the fuel pump recall.

rebuilding that 10 speed ain't impossible. the more they do the better they get. thats a fast turn around. Im sure it may not be a complete rebuild.

Murphys Law.😁

Got it back from the dealer today and it seemed good on the short drive home. Of course they didn't reinstall my RCI skid plates properly, but I probably should have removed them before taking it in, so that's my fault. According to the write-up they found Friction plates burned, pistons grooved when they torn down the transmission. Impressive they were able to complete this job in such a short amount of time.

Here's the write up from the tech for those interested:
