2023 F150 Tremor
I’m planning to upgrade from 2016 Tundra and just am blown away by the Tremor. The salesperson mentioned the Tremor’s lifted suspension may make towing my 7000# travel trailer a less stable ride than a regular F 150. Can anyone describe your experiences (good or bad) towing travel trailers and the trailer weight/size. I’m hoping to put down a deposit this week if actual owners have better feedback than the salesperson. Thanks in advance

i pull a 24' car hauler, weight loaded is about 6500# i do use a weight distribution hitch. truck handles fine

The added travel with Tremor can make it a little more unstable compared to the shorter travel of the standard f150, but as stated above if you use a weight distribution hitch, or use RAS spring helpers it steadies it out even more than the F150 standard. It was made to tow 10,900 so 7k isn't anything.

I have towed around 9k and didn't have any issues.

I tow a 33' TT that weighs just over 8k. I have RAS spring helpers, and they are set to the maximum setting. While the back end of the truck does drop with the trailer connected, I still have a slight rake to the font. Note that I wouldn't tow my TT without the RAS, I think they are required for this size and weight of TT.

The truck is pretty empty when I tow, just two adults and small dogs. We don't put stuff in the bed as I am close to cargo capacity with this setup.

The farthest I have towed is from the Denver area to southwest Colorado, about 7 hours total. This included going over several mountain passes. The truck did great overall. For some, it might seem like the trailer is too big, but I am careful, and it works for me.

The best part is that I get to Southwest Colorado, and then the Tremor can handle some of the more complex trails in the area. :)

Hope this helps!

How do the RAS helpers affect ride quality when not towing?

I put them on a week after getting the truck, so I don't have a lot of experience without them. I remember thinking at the time the ride actually got a bit smoother over bumps.

That seems to be the consensus among those who have used them, seems to add damping to the rear suspension where the factory shocks have very little it seems.
Side note I know several have asked the question of who made the rear shocks for Ford, I think they were made by bellwether, not totally certain but from what I can find that looks to be who manufactures the OEM shocks.

Towing a 27ft travel trailer in Colorado has been a breeze. Gone up to Granby over Berthoud pass with no issues with a wdh. I did have the RAS kit and it was okay, but traded it out for Airlift Loadlifter 5000 and it's awesome. Note that I also have AS 2.5.

Cleaver - was the experience good on the stock truck or did you have the aftermarket components on when you said towing was a breeze. I’m trying to determine what I need extra (if anything) to have a comfortable towing experience

I had towed a pretty large dump trailer with it being stock and drove it up to Wyoming from Denver and I felt really comfortable with it.

Thanks for the help. Very reassuring. I have a very similar Jayco rv

Here are three pics of my 2022 Tremor hooked up to a 27’ (ball-to-bumper) trailer. The trailer weight is 6050lbs dry and the spec’d tongue Weight is 775. Add two 30lb propane tanks, two 6v batteries and a modest cargo load in the trailer and the measured tongue weight is over 1100lbs 😶. I’ve equipped the truck with Airlift 5000 series airbags + cradles and an Airlift WirelesONE Bluetooth controlled compressor
Pic #1: basically stock suspension setting with airbags at 5psi and weight distribution system on the hitch not connected.
Pic#2: airbags at 5psi and weight distribution hitch fully connected
Pic #3: airbags at 27psi and weight distribution hitch connected.

#3 is how I tow and it works well. No rear end sag, trailer is level, and no roll or sway.

is just under 5K with everything in it. I do have a distribution hitch that I readjusted from my Honda Passport to use with my Tremor. I just took it on a 1K trip two weeks ago - up mountains, down mountains, through North Cascades Hwy in WA, etc. No issues whatsoever with the 3.5L. It the wind (side) I felt it a bit trying to sway but there's controls for that and with my dist/hitch it really helps too. I'm sure if one went with a trailer toward the max weight capacity it would feel very different than mine. Just my experience so far.

This is my 323 Trailer, probably 37 overall all length. Dry is 8000 lbs and on this trip, i was probably close to 9k or more. Family vacation packed for 9 days with all the food, toys, cloths, beer... ect that a family of 5 would need. I have 5k air bags at 50 psi and it tows perfectly. 75mph with one hand on the wheel. I do have a weight distribution hitch and a sway bar for the trailer.
