So I'm taking a closer look at the truck and noticed a lot of gaps in the bed. Since I'm now looking at getting an RSI and have a bed rug, I'm looking for options to seal the bed from dust.

I've heard you should never silicone on top of automotive paint but what are other good options?

You tube shows videos on exactly using silicone or focus on sealing the tailgate so interested on what others share

For the tailgate who says you couldn't just use weather stripping?

For the tailgate Ford accessories sells a dust seal kit.

The bed has other cracks at the seems. Depending on how much dust they let in I might do a spray in bed liner even though I was not planning on it otherwise.

I’m reasonably certain that you are referring to dust coming in from places other than the tailgate, but for what it’s worth I got a Retrax tailgate seal when I ordered my Retrax cover. That being said, I wanted in on this thread to see what suggestions there are for the “other places”.

That's a great option. Even with my spray in liner I have a bit of a crack along the seam the box cabside.

I’m on a lot of gravel dusty roads. I am very interested in a product to seal out the dust.

Great question- tagging in on this one.

There is a product called Sikaflex 221 that I have seen used by the companies doing Overland builds. They have it in a few different colors depending on what you're looking for.

Yeah, I think that's the stuff I used when I built my corvair. Great stuff for panel seams, rain gutters, etc. If I remember though, you need to prep the bare metal surface really well.

I may be totally wrong but what I'm thinking of is more of a bonded gasket sealer like 3M Dynatron or silicone.(see previous statement on silicone)

True story, I bought flex seal tape and covered the zipper on the bedrug. Then installed it to the bed.
With the number of holes in that bed, it made more sense to reduce the dust at the bed and cap more than the bed

Get some seam sealer from a body shop supplier. This is my second 150 I have done

I have the factory “Spray In” bedliner and a Leer 100XQ camper on my ‘23 Tremor. Over the weekend I was reminded about the shocking amount of dust that gets sucked into the bed. We left some jackets and a garment bag the bed with some fishing gear. We took a 12 mile drive down a dirt road when we arrived everything was covered in dust. This is my 4th truck with a camper shell and none of the others had this issue.

I agree with the others that the gap between the bed sides and floor are probably to blame. So, I ordered a cartridge of Sikaflex 221 to seal the gaps. I also ordered ESI ROK BLOCK XL tailgate gap cover and the Ultimate Tailgate Seal from Amazon too. Hopefully the combination of sealing the gaps and the tailgate will eliminate or at least greatly reduce the amount of dust that gets into the bed.

I also use a tailgate sealer kit. On my 15 and 23 I went to an automotive paint supplier and bought a couple tubes of seam sealer. It works pretty well.

Last month I sealed the bed bottom to the sides with the Sicaflex and installed the tailgate gap cover and seals. A couple weeks ago I took another ~25 mile drive on dirt fire roads. There was less dust then before but still more than I would hope for. I took the truck to a car wash the next day and noticed that there was some water on the front end of the bed when I got home. WTH? I started looking at the removable front wind on the camper shell and could see dust around the window frame. This weekend I pulled the window out and added some D shaped automotive weatherstripping around the entire window. I also sealed the vertical seams between the bed front and sides for good measure. Hopefully that will cure my dust issues.
