2021 F150 Tremor on order

One of the reasons for my (pending its arrival) Tremor purchase is to build it up as an Overland vehicle. Love the payload/towing capacity vs. other options in that space (mainly Toyota). Ford is not the preferred option in this space so I'm hoping more products become available. Hoping to use this thread if anyone finds solid options for racks, bed sliders, tents with proper fit, air bag/compressor systems, tonneau covers, etc.

I have an RSI SmartCap EVO Sport on my Raptor I'm moving over to my Tremor when it arrives. While I don't have the overland setup you are talking about, you should check it out. It has a lot of overland capability.

Love the RSI Smart Cap option but trying to keep my RTT below the cab height. Does anyone have a recent F150 truck bed that they could measure the exact distance from rear window to the truck tailgate lip on the back? Looking at a RTT that is 75" long and do not want too much hang over. I'm figuring with the lip on the back of tailgate it will be pretty darn close.

Yeah, Rotorhead got me started down the RSI path.. It may be a little too much overhang. My ram short bed is 74" front to rear outer edges. I'm going to guess our trucks are about the same.

Here is what I have for pics on my phone that show the fitment. Any other specific pics I can help you with?

I think I've decided to return to my previous way of confirming rock sliders.

At my last expo, there were a bunch of people and vendors claiming their steps were rock sliders. So I invited them to my rig and pulled out my 20 pound sledge hammer and lifted my truck by the sliders with my high mount . and proceeded to beat the living shit out of my sliders. with the exception of a ding or two and some paint missing, everything was as expected. At that point, I had a pretty good crowd gathered.

I looked at the group I brought over and asked who's truck are we trying this with, next?

There were no takers...

I'm getting ready to start my Overland build pretty soon and I plan on keeping things pretty simple. What I am adding is:

New Tires to replace the crappy 2 ply sidewall stock tires
Softopper with the Camper Top Tent
GMRS Radio
Datin Fab Bed Rack with mounts for MaxTrax and RotoPax fuel and kayak saddles.

I just got my Line-X bed liner put in and will be putting in a bed mat as well for added insulation and comfort.

Taking the Tremor to Utah on day 2 of ownership and logging a few hundred miles of trails with the Overlanding group I am with convinced me that much more than that is superfluous. I MAY end up changing out the skid plates at some point but don't see a real need at this point.

My only argument to everything else being superfluous is a winch and sliders. That said, it's all in how you use your rig. If you're going in groups, you'll have plenty of recovery options. Sliders are a requirement for me because of the places I go. But... They're 200 pounds and don't just pop off if you need the payload.

Agreed, what may be unnecessary for me could definitely be a requirement for others. Both the Datin Fab rack and the Softopper can be removed in less than 10 minutes to regain payload for when we get a trailer in the 6500 lb range and I need to tow up some of the hills here in AZ. Trying to find that balance between payload capacity and added protection/functionality is tricky with a family of 4 with 2 dogs and all the outdoor toys.

Do any of you folks know if the RCI transmission, transfer, and gas tank skids are compatible with the Tremor and the factory front skid?

After seeing the skid plates on my old Tacoma I definitely want some more protection than the plastic transmission skid on the f150...

Not sure. I'll be calling them in a week or two to see where they're at with Tremor stuff.

Let us know what you find out. I am about ready to pull the trigger on the transmission skid (assuming it fits). I want to lose the diaper.

Yep i just put on my engine and transmission rci plates on. They work great with the tremor bash plate.

Awesome news. RCI skids are on my list. Their website shows the engine skid plate to come WITH a bash plate (2pieces). Were you able to buy just the engine skid without the bash plate?

When I bought my 4Runner skids years ago they were super nice, responsive, helpful. I imagine you could, just asking for confirmation.

The rci plates were takeoffs from my 17 f150 that i traded in.

Should have just shown them this video, most of have taken their booths down.

Guys keep in mind that's a 2500 power wagon which weighs quite a bit more than our trucks.
