2022 f150 tremor
Is there anything I can do or say to get a different truck. My transmission has been jerking since I bought it in May. It has been in the shop 3 times. Finally they are changing the transmission. Radio keeps freezing, when I'm idling at the light or sitting in the truck idling it has a rough idle where there is a light shake that goes up and down. They keep telling me it's bc the truck is trying to learn my driving habits. I bought the truck so I wouldn't have problems and still I'm going through this. Anyone else having these issues and does anyone know who I can speak to or how I can convince them to just give me another one. Carfax will show I've had problems with the truck since day one and I feel like if I want to sell it in the future and people see that it's had problems since I bought it, no one will buy I truck that had problems especially mechanical issues since day one. It's a 2022 tremor that I bought in May brand new. If anyone can help me on how to resolve this I'd appreciate it thank you

So I bought my tremor 2 months ago. Currently has 1600 miles. Love the truck had a 250 and dropped down to the 150, I drive 100 miles round trip for work a day and have a fiesta that makes that trip for me every day. Wife drives an explorer so we are ford people lol. We got back from a family trip and I parked the truck in the garage to unload kids and bags. Well I noticed an oil leak. Got underneath and oil is all over the skid plate. Checked dip stick and it’s showing below the add mark on stick. Scheduled road side assist to pick up and take to local dealer. Called them that morning and they told me they will call me as soon as truck is dropped off and looked at. Well nothing all day so called after work. Was informed it could possibly be 5 weeks before they can even look at it. I asked why they did not tell me that when I called and he said they will try to fit me in. I asked about a loaner and said since Covid they don’t have anything to give out because of the shortage of vehicles. I called Ford and they were no help at all. Basically I can wait or try to find another dealer that I would be responsible for tow also, I live in a rural part of Ga and all dealers close have a 4 week or longer wait they told me. Tuesday they were able to look at it, drove it for 35 miles according to my ford app and I assume it’s fixed. Called them after I got off work since I still have not heard from the dealer. They said that it is leaking and they have checked all easy areas and can see it’s leaking good but will have to disassemble a good amount to see where the leak is even coming from. Wednesday they told me they were not able to start disassembling it since all the guys were busy and they just had the oil change guy look at it and clean it the day before. I’m trying to be reasonable and polite but I don’t understand why you drive a truck 35 miles when you know it has an oil leak. My distance tell empty also dropped dramatically so I’m sure it was not an easy ride. I’ve not even pushed the truck yet only gone 73 mph. I have never had to deal with this type of situation and I’ve owned a ton on new and used cars. I’m so ready to trade this truck in and it’s only been in the shop since Monday 22 Aug. I’m not sure what I need to do next. The service guy I’ve talked to has been very polite and nice I understand that this is warranty work and they don’t make as much as some other jobs. But I’ve spent 71k on this truck I really expected better service. No loaners, no help from ford.

While this doesnt help at this moment, it does appear that Ford is finally acknowledging their quality issues that have exploded over the past few years:

(link to another forum since the WSJ article is behind a pay wall)

Figures for warranty costs are pretty alarming. I am not cancelling my order, but given the level of quality we have been seeing it has crossed my mind.

My truck has rough idle issues that popped up 800 miles. Almost a year in and still not fixed and I’ve tried four times with two dealers. They’ll blame the gas, blame the humidity, gaslight me and say I’m making it up, but never admit the idle is rough and it’s abnormal. The truck can shake like it has a cam, instead it should be smooth like the other EBs on their lot. This is my second 21 F-150.

I’m in the dealer waiting room now having some recall and TSBs done. Ford doesn’t give a shit about rough idle unless it pops up a CEL or there’s an official TSB telling them exactly what to do and how to do it so they don’t waste man hours diagnosing.

I’d upload a video but the 10s clip is too long

Ever figure this out?

I had this issue previously on a 2019 3.5 eco boost and having the same issue again on my 22. Currently dealer is 6 months out to even looking at my new truck but on my previous vehicle i utilized the graphs on my power distribution to each cylinder which showed a misfire in one of the cylinders and because it was so minimal In never through a CEL it was obvious. I have a diagnostic computer that pointed me there but i told the tech to review what i found and that’s how they identified it themselves to replicate the concern. At first it started with coils and worked their way down til eventually i got a whole new motor. the issue was on the new motor too and in total took about 5 months but eventually got a settlement from ford on the issue that kept me from complaining further, kept my truck for abit and sold it a few months later.

I had a 2019 F150 with trans issues and never got it fixed. Traded the truck for a 2022 F150 Tremor. I have rough idle and transmission issues. I dropped off my truck at the dealership on 3 Jan 2024 and to this day 24 Jan 2024 it's still there. They are rebuilding a module, I guess a part of the transmission. If that doesn't fix it, the service writer said he'll push to have the transmission replaced.
He (service writer) also told me last month that Ford has a class action lawsuit for the 10R80 transmissions. Complaints of jerking, harsh shifting, lunging, clunking, hesitation, and sudden loss of power.
Once I get my truck back, I'll post the invoice(s).

I have the hard shifting/ clunk once and a while. It happens especially when its cold and coming to a hard stop ONLY IN NORMAL MODE. To be honest it doesn't really bother me too much and I have just kinda labeled it as a "Ford" thing. Has anyone ever had a failure from it?

I get the clunk when coming to a stop from time to time. That’s another issue i haven’t tackled yet. The issue i was referencing was a rough idle when stopped or parked. The whole truck just has a rough idle and will feel like it’s trembling like it may shut off.

My idle in my F150 is rougher then my 2017 Tundra but its never more then a "i can feel that". Its not rumbling like its gonna stall out.

I have an appointment on 2/12 with the drivetrain specialist at my dealer for the clunk when coming to a stop and hard downshift from 10 to 9 and 8 to 7. The hardships are occasional but are starting to become more consistent. 2022 with 10200 miles. Will update after my appointment.

I had the drivetrain lash/clunk when coming to a stop in my 2015, 3.5L ccsb platinum that had the 6 speed and my 22' tremor does do the same thing, although not as bad. That 2015 also had a very rough idle that would vibrate/judder through the car, almost as if it was dieseling (although without the rough engine note).

I also have the shudder, reluctancy to downshift and harsh downshifts from 8/9/10 when on the fwy in my 22'. The idle is much smoother in my 22', but at 9k miles, there is a hint of an idle that is rougher then when the truck is brand new. I obviously really hope it does not get as bad as my 15' because it was unbelievably annoying in a 65k plus truck... and this 22' was way more.

I digress, I just had my 22' in the shop for the rough shifts and shudder at fwy speeds. They re-programmed and reset the trans and it's slightly better, although the lash/clunk when coming off of the throttle and rolling to a stop is still there. To be honest, I believe that's just the nature of the beast with these f150s and there isn't much you can do to change it. They just simply do not like coming off of acceleration and onto the brakes or transient throttle and onto the brakes and the transmission seems to hunt for the right gear causing drivetrain lash. The only way to truly get rid of it is to make sure you do what feels like a substantial amount of time coasting to a stop in lieu of braking to a stop.

I only have a clunk from 4-1 due in part from what i can see its skips 2 and jumps from 3-1 then CLUNK. Again this only happens in normal mode and when its cold. If Im driving the truck for more then 15 minutes it doesnt do it often if at all. My idle I realized as well only is felt in park the second I put it into any gear smooth and I cannot feel it. As I said I like you believe this is just Ford behavior. I get it some people will be more bugged then others. My 17 Tundra had TONS of steering feedback when driving and everyone said "Its a Toyota thing". Bugged me so bad I traded it in for my Tremor. This is all preference from what i can see.

From what I understand these clunky rough downshifts are in part due to tuning and can also be related to sticky valves in the valve body. Quite often the valves get better with time. Ford does have an enhanced break-in procedure where they run the valve body through its paces with the truck on a hoist. Following that they replace the valve body.

Mine does it sometimes too and I dislike it a fair bit. My plan is to see if it gets better over the next few thousand kms (it seems to be). If that doesn't work, I'll seek out a new valve body or a tune.

One thing you can all try with Forscan app and the OBD2 plug is erasing the adaptive learning tables for the transmission, then attempt the Ford re-learn protocol. I just turned my adaptive feature off and it seems to have improved things significantly.

With the transmission I used to get an occasional clunk (not often and not severe). I installed some amber lights behind the grille and my battery was out for about 6 hours. I've noticed since putting it back in about a month ago I've had zero hard shifts. I'm assuming having it out that long reset things.

Yes would love to see it !!
