So, as I've mentioned, my daily driver/disaster response rig was totaled recently, leaving me looking for a new truck. I would love to have another 2023 402a V8 as that seems to be one of the best years for the Tremor thus far, and even if 2024+ were better, there's no way I'm getting enough insurance payout to afford that. These seem to be hard to find.

I really like the Tremor, though I've thought a lot about what makes it better than a regular F150, besides the cool stickers and orange accents. Sorry, Active Orange accents... Yes, it comes from the factory with better suspension and better tires, different wheels, improved angles, trail turn assist and longer axle vent tubes but I could also get any other level of F150 and add better aftermarket suspension, wheels and tires, remove the front air dam and still have a possibly-equivalent (??) 4x4 F150 and still not pay what it costs to get a Tremor. I'd imagine you could get a similar interior with a decent F150 trim level. I guess I'd lose the upfitter switches, exhaust tips, tow hooks and a few other features, but my question is this: at the end of the day, why buy a Tremor over a well-outfitted regular F150? Is the 4WD better or different? Does it work better/different? Essentially, are we buying more than just a few stickers and factory upgrades we're just going to replace anyway?

A bit of paint should fix it, right?

It doesn't seem fair that I should have to lose everything I've worked to build because of someone else's carelessness on the road, but I guess here we are.

I'm not seriously considering moving away from a Tremor if I can help it, but I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

Thanks guys!

There’s no way that that you can get another trim level of another F150 that has close to everything that a 402A TREMOR has, add aftermarket suspension and wheels and come out cheaper.
Yes, it’ll be close but not really.

If you want a F150 that’s closer to your 402A Tremor that was totaled, at the very minimum, you’d have to step up to a 502A equipped Lariat and go from there.

If you don’t care about the higher end exterior lighting, 4A transfer case option, dual exit exhaust, and A few other TREMOR specific features, then yes, you could start with a STX or XLT trim level F150 and go from there and you might come out cheaper.

I thought about doing the same with a XLT and adding items to somewhat compare to a Tremor. After some thought I just decided on a '25 Lariat 502A with the 5.0 Coyote and black appearance package along with a few other options. The headlights on the '24/'25 Tremor are the same as an entry level XL and really didn't appeal to me. The 502A is loaded with features the Tremor doesn't have, but the Tremor has certain things the 502A Lariat doesn't have. Hopefully, Ford will give the Tremor some better standard options with the upcoming new generation F-150. I know my Lariat will never be a Tremor, but for just a little over 65K after all discounts I can definitely live with it.

I wanted a lariat, but then my dealer put -$7,500 on both of their fully loaded Tremors and it was cheaper at ~68k for a fully loaded ‘23- plus I didn’t have to replace anything.
Cloth seats weren’t going to happen, so pricing an upgraded XLT wasn’t calculated.

The headlights are the exact same reason I went with my 24” lariat with the black appearance pkg. I was set on getting a new 24 tremor but I just couldn’t get past those headlights so I built my own wanna be tremor.

Curious as to what those features are, that Tremors don't have. I always thought Tremors had everything Lariats have, and then some.

A lot of of what the tremor has to offer could probably be added on to some degree to a lower trim. But I didn’t want the hassle and just wanted to buy something already kitted out the way I wanted for the most part. One of the biggest selling points for me and where I live was the 4A transfer case and torsen diff. Looks like this can be added to other trims with some effort, money, and know how, but I’m lazy. Leather, heated and cooled seats, dual zone climate, dinner table for road trips (work surface), power memory pedals/seat/steering when my wife and I trade off driving, and 360 cameras were all just nice to haves.

Mainly the headlights between the two trucks along with the DRL's. Tails in the base Tremor are still incandescent bulbs. Also, I'm not positive, but does the base Tremor come with the 4A option on the transfer case? I really wanted the Tremor. It's a beautiful truck, but the headlight configuration just isn't for me. Maybe in a few years on the next generation Ford will give it back the premium LED projectors it once had. I even thought about aftermarket premium MoriMoto style headlights to put in a Tremor, but there's nothing out there yet I know of other than maybe Chinese junk.

Thank you for this! Just reconfirms the effort I need to put into finding another one. Even if I do replace the suspension and wheels/tires....

See, that's kind of what I'd been thinking, especially since I'm not going to get enough to actually buy what I had. I'm not sure why I should have to accept a truck with more mileage and less stuff on it to replace mine though the accident was no fault of my own, but that seems to be the way insurance goes. It's hard to find one with a Torsen, but I guess that could be added...

402 A or nothing.
It's really hard to find a 402a for a price I can do with the insurance payout.:( But I won't get anything else.

Possibly not surprisingly, what I am finding is that there are a lot of V6 models for sale and much fewer V8s, which is also a problem for me...

I didn't want the hassle of installing aftermarket suspension and stuff either, but then I did it anyway to be able to fit 35" tires (🤦‍♂️🤑) which I thought might be better in some of the disaster areas we get into.

I also really want to find a replacement with a Torsen, though I can install it/have it installed if whatever I find doesn't come with one.
I really liked the '23 402a. It was a great truck and I really want to find another '23 to replace it. Maybe I should start a gofundme... :ROFLMAO:

Can't pass that up!

Torsen made a big difference for what I do with my truck. That's why I picked the Tremor.

Yes a lariat has 4 auto but it isn’t the same transfercase. For me, living in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The Torsen diff and raptor transfer case means I have the best equipped f150 for winter roads.
Why not get a lightly used tremor? I picked up my 2023 with 20,000kms (13,000 miles) for $25,000 Canadian less than msrp. And a fully transferred extended warranty.

FX4 is a good option. I went from a 2018 FX4 it was fully loaded with everything. To a 24 402a Tremor. I’m looking at the Mack pickup. There a Beast!! I got 9000 miles on this truck now , my primary use of the truck is Hunting. I bought it new here in Florida.

I did the same. Bought mine used for a short term truck. But it's too good to sell/trade. Especially with 700+HP.

Just get a lightly used Raptor. Better overall truck than the Lariat or Tremor and you won’t have to spend all that money on mods and upgrades 🤷🏻‍♂️

Did you negotiate your buy out price with insurance? Had a vehicle totaled 2 years ago and not a chance in hell I was going to accept their first offer. Found comps of vehicles for sale at dealerships (they wouldnt accept private party for sale comps) and got them to come up to what market was, which was about $5k higher than their initial offer.
