2022 tremor 402a
Hey guys! So I have plans on getting the rsi cap for my tremor and was wondering if anyone has ever set up some sort of small a/c unit using the truck bed outlet for keeping the dogs cool on trips? I would bring them in the cab but I have 2 massive huskies.

This doesn't answer your question, but I spend a significant amount of time on weekends out training my dogs with a group so I've spent a lot of time looking into questions like this.

I haven't thought of doing that specifically (small AC unit plugged into bed outlet). Primarily I combat the heat by keeping the vented windows of the canopy open at all times, prioritizing parking in the shade (or using a shade cloth when I can't), using portable battery fans, and tons of fresh water. I keep a SensorPush thermometer in the bed so I can monitor via my phone as well. The temperature noticeably drops while driving I've found. And it was the main factor for me to get a White truck instead of Black.

I've seen some people make a swamp cooler out of an old cooler by cutting holes for fan/exhaust and filling it with ice. With a portable battery fan then you could do this without the need for the truck to be running.

Having recently increased our fur output to 3 huskies, this is what I'm doing.

I bought a Super Pacific camper so it's similar buymay need tweaking.

The 2 legit'ish AC units I found were zero breeze 2300 btu portable and 4000 btu ecoflow wave. Both will run using propower 2kw.

Im giving the zero breeze a shot and pick up my SP this week but plan on cutting the 2 vent holes in the rear door window and collect the drain water in a 4 gallon jug for toilet use. I'll be building a small shelf bench on the driver's side that will accommodate a mount point for the ac unit. I'll be insulating the cab structure and will run a few trips with a thermometer in the back before trying it out with my dogs

If you're in an area with lower than 70% humidity, the ecoflow doesn't need a drain. If I had $3400 laying around, I would have gone with the ecoflow, delta max and extra delta max battery. Basically, it would replace most of what I've already built battery-wise and allow the wave (AC) to run off pure DC making it super efficient.

As it stands, I can power the zero breeze with my current 24V battery and only use 250 watts so if it works for my dogs, I'll stick with it. If not, I'll be spending that cash on these furry little poop factories

We would use blocks of ice in a cooler with a fan on blowing across them to cool our tents in the field while either training or the few times we had to sleep in tents in Afghanistan that did not have ac. It works surprisingly well.

Ran into a guy with a Nomadic a/c on his 4wheel camper. Pretty sweet setup but expensive… he can run on batteries for eight hours. Nomadic a DC a/c unit.

I can do 9 hours with my small battery and the 2300 btu. But that doesn't leave for much more before the sun comes up to run my fridge, etc. I'm thinking about building a 6.7kwh when I build my drawer
