Upfitter switches.. Red & white bundles

I looked in by the battery and found the bundle of wires I think is for the upfitter switches, but there appears to be 2 bundles. According to the owners manual the white is not powered and runs to the fuse box in the passenger kick panel. While the red is powered. I accessed this via the passenger wheel because they were not taped under the battery, but right along the fender. Plus, it was easier for my fat hands to access them.

Okay, question time... Is there anything i need to do with the white bundle? I shouldnt need to fuse the red bundle, because they're already fused, right?

If you plan on running anything off the switches in the cab. You wire the switch wire (red) to the one of the white wires. Then use the matching color white wire inside the cab to run what ever it is, radio, GPS etc…. If you don’t plan on doing anything like that, leave the white wires as is. The Red wires are fused, but remember you only have 2-5a, 2-10a and 2-15a circuits. So if you need more amps than the switch has you will need to run a relay. If you use a relay make sure you fuse the main power to the relay.

The on/off switch provided from F150Leds has a three pin connector with three colored wires: white, blue, black. Is it obvious what to do with that?

The white bundle are the “Pass Through” wires. Like the name implies, they just pass through the fire wall on the passenger side. There is nothing attached on either side of these wires but the heat shrink caps. They are used to wire things mounted inside the cab without fishing wires through the fire wall.

If you want to use the switch that came with the kit you will not use any of the white or red wires. Wire the kit per instructions.

If you want to use an Upfitter switch.
The red bundle is connected to the switches in the cab and have been pre wired with fuses and some with small relays. If your kit came with a 40 amp relay i would use it. The biggest factory wired relay is 15a. Install the kit per instructions until it comes time to mount the switch in the cab. The three wires going to the switch are power, ground and trigger. (I am assuming they are using a hot trigger not a ground trigger) The power and ground let the switch light up. I do not know the color code they use for their wires. You could email them and ask or probe the wires with a test light or meter. With the switch plugs still under the hood of the truck, plug the two white plugs together. Operating the switch should activate the lights. Take your tester and probe the wires to see what wire is constant hot, never hot (ground) and hot when the lights are on. Most of the time you can probe these from the back side of the white plug if you have a long sharp probe. Once you have identified the trigger wire, the wire that goes hot when the button is pressed and the lights come on. That wire will be spliced to the up-fitter wire of the switch you want to use. I would cap or tape the ends of the other two unused wires. Remember the upfitter switches are only hot when the ignition is on.

Anybody have a pic of where the in cab wires are located?

No picture, but they are in the passenger side front foot well. Pull the trim piece and actually look. Just like the wires under the battery, some can find them without taking it out. Some have to take it out and dig for the wires. When I put the ZFlash in my brothers Raptor they were tucked under the BCM. Some have found them tucked up by the glove box, some have found them out in the open. But they are in that general area.

I will look again but when installing a zflash I had the glove out and the kick panel off, no hide nor hare. Must be stashed behind something. Bat Rasterds

We hooked the ZFlash to an Upfitter switch. Had to use the pass through wires. It will be a pain to find now with all those extra wires in the way. There is a funny post on another forum where the guy said he had to stand on his head with one leg out the window, a flash light in his mouth and a mirror to splice them because they where so short and hard to get to. I need to pull mine and look. going to use one or maybe two of the wires to run a constant 12v hot to a 75w USB PD port to charge my drones and laptop.
