Anyone ever notice when backing out in the morning and shifting from Revere to Neutral -> Drive, the safety ratchet when you press the button doesn't always disengage immediately? You feel more resistance and after a second or two it finally disengages. Weird thing is if I go back to Park with button pressed, the motion immediately disengages the ratchet and I experience no resistance. It almost feels like the shifter is temporarily stuck.

The folding shifter seems like an unnecessarily complex part. Not saying your issue is related to the folding, but it just makes me nervous as an additional point of failure.
Yep. Got the 8 year warranty extension for stuff like this. If we need to get it addressed, hopefully the replacement parts by then will have gone through many cycles and revisions.

Only on a few occasions has this happened to me, but it has happened. One think I will say is I found out if you turn the truck off with it still in drive it automatically sends it to park. Don't ask how that got found out, just know it does it.

Same here!

It also puts it in park automatically if you open the driver door at a stop with it still in drive. Freaked me out when I first git it lol

So I can reproduce this 100% of the time now. To prevent this awkward resistance when shifting to Drive from Reverse, just nudge the shifter forward a bit. I had started a habit of not putting my entire palm on the shifter and that's when I started noticing this. Apparently the entire weight of your palm resting on the shifter was enough to nudge it ever so slightly forward. Guess I need to change back to this old habit

has anyone found out a way to override this? sometimes when backing my trailer i like to leave the door open, but this truck doesnt like that, haha

It might not happen if you have your seatbelt on. Just guessing

Maybe try putting it in park, open the door and then reversing.

I have found I can shift to reverse from park with the door open. Truck has to be in park before opening door, and it makes all sorts of beeping noises telling me to shift to park.

Mine has done that too, I found that folding the shifter down using the button then then hit the button again to raise the shifter seems to reset mine and all works fine. It has done it two or three times.
