What's new

Well, dammit…

Yeah frustrating for sure. What I'm more frustrated with is it sure seems like they are still accepting orders, orders they know they can't fill anytime soon. I can't imagine the backlog of ordered vehicles by the time they do (if they do) catch up. We might all be getting 2023's at this rate.

Don't see how this changes anything beyond the delays we already know from chips. These vehicles end up sitting in massive lots anyways; reducing production doesn't make those sitting on the lot move any faster.

Why do I have a feeling that F150 ICE truck production will be effected by Fords desire to get the F150 Lightning on the road. Ford underestimated the demand for the Lightning. I would bet Lightning production will get chip priority. Ford is betting that F150 ICE customers will be patient since they do not really have much of a choice. I am not 6/7 month or MY23 patient.

What I haven't understood yet is why other players on the market have not aligned to producing microchips. The demand is there and money is to be had. If I had the capital and the approximate partners I would be all in.

It takes years to set up. Intel is aiming to build in Ohio, but that'll take quite a while.

Last year TSMC started building a 12 billion dollar manufacturing facility in Arizona. They plan on getting up and running by 2024. They want a piece of the 54 billion subsidies . Intel and Samsung want some to but TSMC has kicked their butts all over the globe. Maybe my 2025 order will be on time.
