2. Fishing/Hunting (Turkey this fall)
3. Road Trip/Off-Roading (Usually down south to checkout a new range)
4. Cooking (Serious cooking)
5. World of Tanks (yeah its sometime to do for fun without having to commit to a full MMORPG)
6. Watch a lot of YouTube on all the above

Throw up your M4 clone — I know you gotta have one. My Colt below:

In my other post in the tonneau covers thread I was going to say that my wife wouldn’t like it if I threw a dead deer in the back of a Tahoe so a different truck with a tonneau cover is where we landed, but I wasn’t sure what kind of crowd I was in. Turns out it’s my kind of crowd. Shooting and hunting pretty much sum up my hobbies. Couldn’t afford to have another hobby haha.

Time wise too — everything requires maintenance and upkeep. This year I’m pretty excited, I have access to some private land for the Turkey hunt that isn’t too far from home. I picked up a nice Remington 870 Express Super Magnum last year — it’s entry level shotgun, but I couldn’t pass it up especially now that Remington is gone… Yeah, Rem Arms now, just not the same.

Very nice. I’ve got an entry level Benelli Nova. I’ve got a few turkeys with it and blasted a decent pile of clay. I keep thinking I’ll upgrade but I’m just not as in to shotguns as I am rifles so it keeps getting delayed. Remington is definitely not the same. I built a custom 7mm Rem Mag off of a model 700 action. At the time, I had to buy an entire gun just for the action. The gun wasn’t much but a paperweight until I had everything replaced but the action. They use to be the king of rifles. Times have changed.

I’m in the same boat as you with shotguns — although I do have a nice Beretta for trap and sporting clays. I had a nice Remington 700 in the 80s for hunting deer when I was much younger.

I’ve been working my way back through the military rifles — M14, M1 Garand, M1903A3, M1917 — looking at a restored Krag next spring.

Now, not to say I’m not current also. I do want an H&K M556 — just pricy. I almost would rather put the funds towards something with a bit more impact such as a .338 Lapua Magnum instead.

That HK would be a nice addition. I agree though, it’s pricey for something that you’re realistically only going to shoot a couple hundred yards. I’ve got a heavy barreled DPMS that will shoot 1/2” groups all day. It’s hard to believe, but it does. Honestly it’s the only reason I’ve kept it. Production AR’s are a complete crap shoot I think. You either get a good one or you don’t. My next build will probably be a 300 WM. If I had the time to reload I’d definitely build a 300 Norma over anything, but that’s not in the cards. Nothing wrong with a 338 Lapua other than the price tag on the ammunition.

I tried a tonneau cover, but went back to a canopy. Just couldn't fit enough stuff. My last hunting trip...

Get the LWRC like the one I posted instead of the HK. In my opinion equal quality and in some cases better. Also check out the LWRC REPR, its a 7.62x51 and a 1/4" MOA gun. Trust me....well worth the money. ;)

I used to have a bunch of HKs....down to one as I moved on to other things.

I went to gunsmithing school in Denver and got an associates degree in it. Here is the 1924 BRNO Mauser I converted to 7.62x51. It was the first rifle I made as my final project, to include the stock. Lapped the lugs by hand, chambered and threaded the barrel myself. Pillar bedded and free float barrel. Claro burl tip on American walnut stock and finished off with a pakerized finish.

That’s a good looking truck
Thanks man...it'll be for sale in a few months....haha. Just waiting on my Tremor. That's the look I intended to replicate on the Tremor, just different wheels this time around. I'll never go with a solid faced wheel again, too hard to clean the mud out.

Those 1/4” guns are hard to come by! Looks sharp. I love the looks of wood stocks but I avoid them. Seems as though I tend to let them sit sing for fear of scratching them when they look that nice!

I love a wood stock....just feels "warmer" on the cheek. All of mine are scratched as the tools they are meant to be, just like my truck. haha

I’ve been kicking around the idea of going to gunsmith school — just for my own interest, not a career. There are a few online options I have glanced at.

This winter I am working on building a gun room using some of SecureIt hardware:

That's a great cartridge and nice looking rifle, hard to go wrong with a Rem 700.
Thanks! I had that put together several years ago. I had McMillan marble those colors and in hindsight I would do it differently, but it shoots great so I live with it and leave it alone haha.

I’ve got the same project for myself this winter. Or was planning to until they Tremor fever set in. Here’s what I was looking at using.
