I had to pull the mailman's vehicle out of the snow with the Tremor today (always nice to use truck as intended) and I realized my walmart strap with hooks on each end from 20 years ago really needs updating. What is recommended for recovery these days? Kinetic rope? Tow strap? I'm thinking soft shackles are a must for the tow hoops in front and rear. I stopped by Harborfreight today and almost bought the badlands strap and soft shackles but started looking at Rhino USA's offering. What say you?

Personally I have and use the smittybuilt snatch strap, which for the price works excellent, I have 4 soft shackles that is use as well, the snatch strap has never let me down, I also have a 20ft and 30ft tow strap, the snatch strap uses kinetic energy just like the ropes do.

I run Factor 55 when wheeling my jeep. They make a nice kit with bag snatch block and all the goodies. It is not cheap.

The kinetic rope is a game changer. I have never used an import one, but I can swear by the Bubba Rope's and Yankum. When you can pull out a stuck John Deere 8R tractor with a one ton truck. It's nothing less than incredible. The old style tow straps are still needed if you need to tow a vehicle back to camp or something like that. A cheap one will do as they get drug on the road. But get a good Kinetic Rope at a minimum. A good receiver recovery point like the Factor 55 HitchLink that lets you run a soft or bow shackle. And a couple shackles to get stated. You can spend a fortune on recovery gear, but when you need it, you need it and you don't want it to fail.

Lol I carry both a 20ft and 30ft plus the smittybuilt snatch strap and have seen times that even that wasn't long enough. 30 ft is a good all around length, but the key thing to remember is you have to be able to stay out of whatever has them stuck and be able to have some forward movement t ok dislodge them.

I like their gear and this brand, had some of their hardware on my old Tacoma. Are you all using the "kinetic rope" of theirs with the ~12000 lb working load limit? It says something like rated for jeeps and SUVs on their site, any concerns it's not heavy duty enough for similar vehicles to the F-150?

Separately, do you have a link to their complete kit?

Personally I would use a heavier rated one, just because if loaded down with gear by the time you include the fact it is stuck it may require 20000lb equivalent to get the other vehicle out or yourself.

I personally would go at least an 1" to 1-1/4" 30' long if you only plan on one rope. You never know what's going to be pulling you out and a half ton can easily get something heavier than itself out with a kinetic rope.

Kits are all about how much you want to spend,

In both my wife's Gladiator and my Tremor, I run nothing but Factor 55 - their Large Recovery Kit has everything you'll ever need.
