Which tire size? Looking into 34” or 35”

I’m thinking about going to larger tires but not sure about ride or mpg - truck has 2” level. I just sold my raptor and purchased a 22 tremor and honestly the tremor ride is smoother than my raptor. Im a bit scared to go to a 34 or 35 inch tire if that means I lose the ride quality.

Also, those running 34 or 35s, what is your current mpg and how much did you lose? I put about 25k miles per year on my truck so don’t want to take a huge hit. My 22 raptor got 17 on the Highway so I would assume the tremor would be similar or better

If your concerned with ride quality could consider getting a load range D which would probably help. I put on load range E 34” and definitely didn’t help with ride quality, fuel economy went down a little not by much. I average around 15L per 100km (sorry I’m Canadian)
 
Tire weight is a major factor too (not just diameter). The tires that came on your Tremor only weigh 46 lbs. I’ve considered getting 315/70R17 Raptor or Bronco tires just because they are a lighter weight C rating. Not as good for payload and towing though.

This is the big one. I have E rated on both my little Toyota’s because long ago I grew tired of changing C and D rated tires on the side of the trail.
 
I’m guessing if the OP’s chief concerns are ride quality and MPG (and aesthetics) then trail performance/flat protection isn’t a consideration. (Could be wrong of course). Like nearly all modifications, it’s a compromise in what you really want to achieve and what you think is important.
I’m in @Bannerman ‘s camp - I have e-rated tires on our 4Runner and have given up mpg and ride quality on-road so I have better factor of safety off road. I’ll have e-rated on the truck too - for both toughness off road and load capacity.
I’m eyeing the Cooper AT3 in 285/75/18. This is ALMOST a 35” tall tire at 34.83” but narrower than all the 295’s, 305’s, and up (saving some weight and rolling resistance). E rated. 60lbs a tire I think.

I'll look into those. I run Toyo AT III 255/80R17s on both my Tacoma and 4Runner, mainly for the (relatively) lighter weight. The Toyo AT III 285/75R18s are 65 a pound, so 5 heavier than the Coopers. I reeeeally like those AT III's though....

There are quite a few tires available in the 285/75/18 size. Plenty of popular choices.
I think I’m maturing 😬 out of the phase where I want (or think I NEED) aggressive mud terrains. A good AT pattern will do good for me and give me better road manners and longevity as well.

Totally agree, I don't really think anyone needs mud terrains other than a dedicated trail rig.
 
I've always had a hard time finding tires 34" or larger that are an offroad design that are not load range E. I would personally prefer a load range C or D from a comfort standpoint, but I dont want to run a street tire.
 
Find some raptor take offs. 34.4” diameter, 12.4” width, and a C rating. This seems like a good way to go if you don’t mind the C rating. @Rxm488 installed some Raptor take offs with a 2.5” level and it looks great (in my opinion)
 
Was getting 17 MPG stock for first 1000 miles and then added level and 35x12.50 and now down to 15 MPG. Have MT and E rated tires, but only drive 10-15k miles a year so def aesthetic decision.

Looks great, but any modification will impact a vs stock drive comparison. Like others mentioned, what your main use is and willingness to lose a little comfort level are, everyone is different.

I don’t regret lift/tires, but would be lying to say it feels like a stock truck. Best of luck with decision and congrats on your new ride!

What offset wheels are you running? I'm looking for this setup but can't find the answer one what fits successfully.
 
If you're worried about the ride, I wouldn't install a 10 ply tire on the Tremor. And it's hard to find a bigger tire that's not a 10 ply. My wife hates the ride quality now, with the 10 ply tire. I'm going back to stock wheels, and a 295/70/18 in the Nitto Recon Grappler, in a non 10 ply tire.

I just installed 315/70/17 nitto recon SL versions on my wife’s bronco and it’s smoother than the stock c rated bfg’s.
 
Nitto is one of the few companies to produce the larger tires in a c or lower rating, the reason is because most people who run the larger tires need stout sidewalls to prevent punctures so most companies don't fool with trying to build a thinner sidewalls tire.
 
My first wheels and tires I ran 17" black rhino rokus +12 offset and bfg 35s with very minimal rubbing on hard lock in reverse.

I changed to 18" fuel blocks with +1 offset and I couldn't run my 35 bfgs, I ended up having to run toyo at3's 305's.. kinda dissatisfied with the toys but oh well.

The rubbing ofc is much worse on the toyos. But I got really sick of the bronzed looks of the rokus.

I have a 2" rough county leveling kit on it.

I love the Toyo AT 3s. Performs better than the BFGs I’ve had in the past.

Ordering these now for the slightly larger tire than stock without a lot of added weight. Let me know how your experience has been, please.
