Got a set of 20x9 Fuel Rebels now I need some tires. Looking at the Toyo AT3 in 285/65/20 or the Falken Wildpeak AT4 in 35x11.5x20. The Toyos come in at 56lbs each and are E rated the Falkens are 65lbs and are D rated. I do tow some and light offroad. Anyone with either of these tires and what are your thoughts on ride quality and performance? I like the Falkens but are almost 10lbs heavier than the Toyos, will the 10lbs per tire drop my mpg more than the Toyos? Let me know what yall think. My current setup in factory wheels with 295/70/18 Kumho at2 E rated and come in at 56 pounds each and still manage 17mpg.

i still have the general grabbers and it makes my truck look starving lol

I had the Toyo AT3 35x12.5 on my last truck and loved them. I think they are more snow-capable than the TA KO2 which is why i got them. Northern wisconsin and midwest winters had nothing on me. I don't think youll be disappointed with the toyos. They were louder at low speeds than highway speeds i found. That might have just been me though, i had a loud intake and borla ATAK. I know nothing about the Falken tires

Nice wheels. I can quite make out what brand they are. Mind sharing? - Rob

I have had Wildpeak AT4w for a couple thousand miles now and they are great. Quite and wet traction had been phenomenal. I average 16.3 mostly in town with minimal highway.

I have ran the Falken Wildpeak At3w for 7 years minus the time I had the factory tires on the Tremor, I found them by chance and decided to try them because the tire I had been running previously was not available in the size I needed on my last truck, gave them a try and have never looked back, they have stood up to everything I have thrown at them and then some. I tried toyos previously on a different vehicle and they did all right but on wet roads they didn't have the same traction the Falkens do, quite honestly there aren't many tires as good as the Falken on wet roads, they even surpass several highway tires I have ran on different vehicles. About the only other tire I have seen that I would try besides the Falken is the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT. While weight does cost some mpg it's the tread that mainly causes the lost MPG, but if you want traction you got to have the tread.

what about AT4w ?

Have had AT4w on my truck for about 3000 miles and not exactly thrilled with them. Compared to the Grabbers they’re quite loud with the constant drone. I had the previous version of Wildpeaks on a 4runner and loved them.. They did survive a trip through the back roads of Colorado and we’re ok not great...

what about AT4w ?
I personally have not ran the AT4W, but seeing as how it's replacing the AT3W as soon as this set wears out it will be my next tire, from my understanding they use the sidewall of the RT01 which is heftier than the AT3W sidewall and therefore more durable and they have a slightly different compound of rubber than the AT3W does which stands up to towing a little better but doesn't really give up wet traction, which is what makes these tires so great. Hands down the best wet traction of any offroad tire made.

I have Toyo at3 on mine in 295/65/20 and they are great. Pretty quiet on the highway and lots of grip off road and on boat launches. Seem to be wearing well so far.

I'm considering getting the Falken AT4 tires, but a curious what pressure you run them. They say 80 PSI for max load, do you still run them at 35psi?

Between 38-40 psi, if your towing heavy you can jump them up a bit but should never need 80psi. You can always do a chalk test to determine your best pressure. Just go to YouTube and search tire chalk tests, they do a good job of explaining.

Thank you. I appreciate it.

I bought a set of Falken Wildpeak AT4W’s last week and I love them already. The noise is about the same as the stock Generals, but the traction is great in rain, snow, and dirt. The only downside is I lost about 2mpg’s around town, and 1-2 on the highway. Hoping they last awhile, because I only got 25K on the Generals. I probably could have made it to 30K, but that would have been the max.

I recently replaced my stock Generals at 45,000 miles. I could have easily got 10,000 more miles on them, but wanted better tread going into winter. Very pleased with them.
Because of this thread, it piqued my interest in the Faulken AT4W tires. Have 4,000 miles on them and very pleased. Low noise on the highway, run them at 38-40 psi. Lost right around 1-mpg in gas mileage.

Those at4w tires are heavy! The lightest E rated tire I have come across thus far is the toyo at3. I'm very interested in the new nitto terra grappler g3 however. They actually have both P and LT in 275/70/18 and have 3PMSF, which nitto rates as a 5 for snow traction. Have 35K on my generals and they have worn perfectly and are 7/32 still

Does anyone choose lower than E rated? I like how much the stock tires deform aired down but also don’t want to rip a sidewall on the side of a mountain.

Fallen makes a c rated 35 and 34 inch tire but they won't change the weight much, pretty much any tire your going to find that is durable in the sidewalls are going to be heavy. In all honesty, you loose a little mpg but that's it, these aren't tacos where when you throw heavy tires on them they couldn't pull a steep hill, these trucks have enough power to handle them.

Totally agree. I lost a little mpg’s with the Falkens, but the power is all there. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care about the MPG’s, because I sold my 7.3 Godzilla for better gas mileage. Having said that, I’m still getting much better mileage than I did with the huge gasser, and I am very happy with my choice.
