I’ve watched all the Tremor vs Raptor videos. I understand the differences in how they are equipped and what their intended purposes are. I don’t care about any of that. Also, if you haven’t thought about the Raptor or wondered if you would have been happier in one, this likely isn’t the right thread for you to weigh in on.

So, if you thought about or think about a Raptor, why did you opt for the Tremor?

Cost and location. I live in New England, not a lot of Dunes to go ripping around in. And when I bought my Tremor a new raptor was ~30k more. I’ll most likely get one in the future. But I have 3 kids to get through college first!

I couldn’t find a Raptor on a lot without at least a $5k markup. I did find a few dealers willing to sell at MSRP, but they did not hand any in stock. After X-Plan, the price difference compared to the Raptor was significant, and I had to be honest with myself. Living in the Southeast, I’m not going to be jumping a Raptor anyway—no matter how tempting it would be.

No question the Raptor appearance is (in my opinion) top notch but on the practicality side the Tremor gets the nod. A Raptor was not in the cards for me due to price (so there is your first answer), but we all know that price is really just a prioritization dynamic. Hell, I “couldnt afford” (ie didnt want to pay) the cost of my Tremor, either, but when I looked at what I got from a practical perspective plus some upgrades in appearance over other options, the Tremor had the right balance.

For 99% of folks, they use their truck like a car and everything else is aesthetics and ego.

Simple, price. We a love to enjoy nice things and getting a nicer truck is already added cost. I mean we can all get around on any 4 wheels and make it work but we work hard and deserve to reward ourselves. Paying 15-20k markup over msrp was impossible to swallow. Essentially if you finance you are literally going in the deep red with value vs what you owe. If the truck gets totaled from an accident you would be screwed.

Now if I was uber rich, no kids, and money to burn I would get a Raptor. It’s one hell of a truck and the SVT trucks have a special place in my heart. 25 years ago I had a Lightning and I loved that truck. Who doesn’t love a supercharged V8 (Raptor R 🤩??)

Since I came from a 2wd F-150 and my son and I started getting into hunting I really needed the upgrade. The Tremor fit the bill when comparing to a standard F-150. For a little more money it added a lot of options that would have cost me 4x the price in aftermarket parts. I also told myself I still need a truck that can haul a load in the bed so that was a good excuse I told myself as well. 😂

So…. I have a baby Raptor. We’ve all seen Jurassic Park and those babies would still kill you. 🤙

Well I wanted a raptor until I drove one. There too heavy and too wide. It didn’t have the power of the Tremor. 3.5 to 3.5. I would have had to get the R series to have the real power. Just to much money. Went with the Tremor. Glad I did.

I didn’t offer my reasons, but many have been hit already:
  1. V8 - I love the sound and simplicity (relatively now). There is no shot in hell I would ever pay for a Raptor R to get the V8.
  2. Pro Tailgate - I had the Ram Multi-Function Tailgate and loved it. I bought a ram on the lot that had it already optioned, I suspect I would not have ordered it with it. I really came to love it, and like Ford’s version as well.
  3. The Tremor still feels like you get the utilitarian functionality of a pick up truck. This is highly personal and subjective obviously.
  4. I’m in the Charlotte North Carolina area and could’ve had a raptor for basically what I paid for my Tremor, likely a little bit more, but not enough to matter to me.
With all of that said, I will definitely consider a Raptor in the future.

Because I wanted a V8 and the Raptor R was and still is out of my price range.😎

The Tremor was a lot cheaper. That's pretty much the bottom line for me. There are other benefits like more towing capacity, higher payload, narrower body, and cheaper insurance.

Already have one in the body of a Bronco. Don’t need two. Needed a truck more than an Expedition so we bought the Tremor. But a $30,000+ price difference is a big deal to most. Tremor will be a great truck for the northwest and the bottom line the wife loves it more than the Expedition.

My 2011 XLT just turned 260k and needed a new full size truck. The Raptor is a unicorn for me$$ and ultimate off road? Not.. 2t dirt bike fills the space for serious adrenalin fix, truck gets you and bikes there. Tremor R was option 2 found this on the net https://www.long-mcarthur.com/new-Salina-2025-Ford-F+150-Tremor+R-1FTFW4L54SFB40270
So basically get 401A and mod to appropriate level. With the help of this forum and its members will provide inspiration and direction.

That Ford F150 Tremor R is new to me. I’ll have to investigate if this is just a dealer enhancement.

Just a dealership package / enhancement that’s based on the 401A package….nothing more and nothing less.

I’ll add that when I had my previous trucks I would see Raptors and be instantly jealous. With the Tremor, not so much. I like them, and still want one, maybe. But man I love my Tremor! Lately I’ve even been entertaining the idea of just sending it off for a Raptor conversion instead of getting a new truck.

What’s a Raptor conversion?

There are companies out there that will do the body work and essentially convert a regular F-150 into a Raptor clone. That being said, there are things that are absolutely unique to the Raptor that you can never do with any other truck. For example, the rear frame on the Raptor is very different from the standard F-150's including the TREMOR. That's because their suspension is totally different.

I don't know if these companies actually do all the work to change out the rear suspension to something closer to the Raptors.

They essentially make your truck a “1st gen” Raptor” when it was a standard F-150 with mid travel suspension. Im fine with that, but for enough money I’m sure they’d do anything you want!
