Thanks. I have an appointment today. Have never done windshield tint before. Have had all the windows done a while ago but man it he heat (I’m in FL) from the windshield is brutal and don’t want the dash to go to crap over time. Any issues with the defroster?

5% all around, 50% on the windshield. Night driving, specifically turning into parking lots or anywhere else with a curb, can be tough if there aren’t street lights but otherwise it’s perfect.

hasn't been cold enough here yet to use. Just the reduction in glare is worth it.

I did 70% on the front. It's so worth it with the new ceramic tints. You don't have to go heavy on the shade to make it work. Truck does know its on there. Auto headlights come on in the daytime going under overpasses and come on earlier than needed. It wouldn't do that before the tint. No one would ever guess it's tinted and that a good thing since then local cops are all about busting dark windows.

Yeah I agree. I put 70% ceramic tint on my windshield and moonroof. The Xpel Prime XR Plus was a bit more, but It is amazing how much of a difference it makes in the summer. When I first got my truck I could feel the heat from the sun radiating on my head during the day if I had the shade open on the moonroof. Once I got it tinted I could not even notice any heat at all. Tinting the windshield was very noticeable as well. On hot summer days when I go to my truck, it never feels super hot when I open the doors. It remains closer to the ambient temperature instead of the usual greenhouse super hot.

I haven't done mine yet, got the wife's done first on her timberline because it's black and was hot as hell did 70% ceramic on hers and looks great, helps tremendously when it's bright out and keeps it about 30° cooler inside.

For an alternative opinion..... I did my windshield and the two side windows and I absolutely hated it and tore it off. My first thought was that there was a haze on it, but it was the tint. With polarized sunglasses colors varied with the angle. I suddenly saw the reflection of my dash any time the sun was at a certain angle, which was often. I read nothing but favorable reviews on it before I did it so maybe they put cheap stuff on, but the price didn't reflect that.

Not sure what they used on yours but the ceramic tint they used on my wife's isn't affected with polarized sunglasses. It looks the same with tint as without, just a smidgen darker.

I asked about the moonroof and was told they wouldnt warranty it because it could possibly crack the glass. Has anybody heard of this? They did say they still do a lot of cars like Telsas. On the fence about it as well as the front windshield.

My dealer has told me this and several tint shops have said they wouldn't recomend tinting the Ford moonroof. The Ford panoramic roof is a maintenance item. You have to keep it clean and lubed or it will fail. Ford could blame the tint on the failure. I don't see how it would be any different than the front or side windows. I skipped the sunroof, but may go have it done. These new trucks are not as insulated as the older once or even close to my Expy for sound deadening and heat transfer. So much heat comes in through the top glass.

Some tint shops say they've done lots of them and rarely seen any break with tint on them. Some of the shops suggest staying with a lighter tint (under 35%) or mirror tint.

Have ceramic tint all around, limo top rear and sides, wide strip on windshield… moonroof a must and no issues… Xpel XR

What cracks the glass, the application or the actual tint? Not following how tint would crack glass, especially tempered glass

The heat the film makes the glass absorb. Instead on the heat going in it rejected and heats the glass.

Yes that is a solution, but heat is still absorbed. A no risk solution is no film. I think that’s what they were trying to say.
