Hey, everyone. I traded in my Lightning for this Tremor recently. Here's a photo of it still at the dealer. If you look closely, you'll notice that the usual accented Tremor name plate is missing. Instead, it came with a blacked out name plate with no lettering whatsoever.

I asked the salesman if they were OEM and he insisted they were, but I have my doubts. I can't find any other pictures of new Tremors with them. Anyways, fast-forward and of course the originals were on backorder, so I found an OEM pair online and ordered those instead. When they arrived, I compared the quality and the OEM ones are much better quality, thicker, and have the usual FoMoCo embossed on the back. The blacked out ones are thin, flimsy, and have nothing about Ford on them.

Here's a picture of the ones that came with the truck.

And here's the OEM one I ordered, for comparison.

My best guess is somebody swiped them and they ultimately got replaced with cheap aftermarkets, possibly since the OEMs are on backorder.

What do you think? Have you seen any on the lot like this?

Other's had this issue with their ordered Tremors. I believe they were place holders by the factory when their was a supply shortage of the correct Fender Badges, that dealer sounds shady to just tell you their OEM and good to go. Other's have said that it was a bear to get their dealers to order and replace the badges as it is a no-cost correction I believe.

That makes sense. When I showed him photos of the OEM ones, the salesman did say they could have been used as an alternative due to the backorder/supply shortages.

Oh well. It cost a bit more, but I managed to find the ones I wanted. I'll hang on to the black ones just in case. Here's an updated photo after the install. So much better!

Sales people truly are clueless and not of much worth. Every time I purchase a new vehicle I always know more than them. Ford needs to go to an online ordering system with models at the local dealer for test drives only.

Ah, thanks! I missed that thread. I did pay for them through eBay, since they’re on back order and it was the only thing that bothered me about the truck. I wonder if they’ll send some out automatically through the customer satisfaction program once they come back in stock.

You might be able to get some sort of credit from Ford, directly. Some people have reported getting checks in the mail directly from Ford for missing items for their troubles.

I'm just waiting until the dust settles to get mine. I can't stand wasting any time at a dealership.

Update: out of nowhere, I received this email. For anyone else with the black out badges, you'll probably receive the same.

Yup still waiting on mine from ford. Been a major pain in the ass. But I refuse to pay what you did knowing I’ll get em for free eventually.

In my defense, when I ordered them I didn't know about 22G05 (nor did the dealer seem to know anything about the badges). In hindsight, I would have waited or even gotten other aftermarkets until then. Live and learn, I guess.

Unfortunately, the dealer doesn't seem to be able to get them despite multiple phone calls to the parts department. ~sigh~

Yea it’s a pain in the ass. I’ve been waiting months and just get met with the runaround .

Just called again and, after a long hold, they told me they do have mine on hand (along with a third badge, but I'm not sure which one or where it goes). The parts guy told me I need to bring the temp badges in so they can send them back to Ford as part of the warranty claim.

Also, you have to call the same dealer you bought it from, as that's where Ford automatically sends them.

Just a heads up to everyone else waiting — don't toss the temp badges.

To follow up — I picked up the badges from the dealer on Saturday. They DO need the temp badges back, as Ford requires them to send them back in the original boxes for warranty purposes.

If you bought your Tremor new with temp badges, Ford will automatically send them to your dealer and notify you via email. Once the email comes in, call your parts department and give them your vin to confirm they have them on hand.

What a mess, though. I wish this would have been communicated more clearly up front.

I had the same problem with my white tremor. Now I have two set of factory proper plates / vents plus the plugs. I need to sell one set if anyone is interested

Took delivery of mine in November. Had these blanks. Was told they were ordered. Went two weeks ago to dealership, Where are they? No record. Now ordered and no ETA on delivery. Some have had better luck and many new trucks them when delivered. Which kind of pisses me off. At least mine's Antimatter blue so they don't stick out like crap.
