Broke into

My son joined the Army. They pick him up at his recruiting office and bus him to a hotel in Atlanta. We were told we could get a room in the same hotel and then go to the MEPS base in the morning to watch his swear-in before they bus him to Fort Benning for Basic. Get up that morning and go out to my truck to leave for his swear-in and a hotel worker was taping plastic on my window and sweeping up glass because some low-life busted my RR window, tried to pry open the console (because they are idiots and don’t know how to operate a button) and gouged up the plastic. They didn’t get anything because I was smart enough to know not to leave anything valuable in there. My Ford app notified me of the break in but when you have notifications silenced on your phone, it doesn’t work lol. Probably best because had I seen it, I surely would’ve investigated and I would’ve been packing to confront the scum. Thankfully it was not raining that night. The cost was ~$3k to get repairs. The door had to be painted because it was scratched, weatherstripping replaced because it was damaged, interior door panel arm rest replaced because a chunk of glass was ground into the plastic. Guessing they thought they were slick and crawled through the window to not open the doors and set off the alarm. Bet they were surprised when the alarm went off anyway. After I got the truck back the repairs were good but still lots of glass in the shell of the door rattling around. Had to remove the door panel and get a crevice shop vac attachment down in there and air compressor to get all that out.

Been there. Happened to me about a year ago, thread posted in this forum. Had to paint door, replace passenger side seat cover, and interior plastic trip from glass shattering. Not a fun ordeal but all good none the less.

It might be good you didn't get the notification and confront the guy because these days he probably would've got off and you'd somehow be to blame.

Pretty cool that the employee was helping to take care of your truck, though!

Here in Atlanta / GA and if caught, said thief would not have gotten off and nope, if the victim confronted the perp and was protecting his or her property and force was used by the victim, they would not be blamed and whatever happens to the perp, oh well.

Born, raised and still live here so stop talking about a place / state where you don’t reside.

Just like every city / state in the country, yes, there are issues but it’s just dumb to blame anything and everything that you perceive to know and don’t like on “the libs”…your words especially in a state that’s controlled by republicans.

We can agree to disagree, but I grew up in that area as well, and have family there to this day. I've seen it deteriorate personally.

Yeah Insurance cover it. Had to pay deductible though. According to Ford, having the security package, they will reimburse the deductible. However it’s been a hassle taking advantage of that so far…

Yes, people can agree to disagree and yes you might have family here but, for you to say that you grew up “in that area”, whatever that means, tells me…a pure Atlanta / GA native that you actually didn’t grown up here because the OP never said what area / location the vandalism happened. All he said was Atlanta which can mean anywhere from the middle of downtown Atlanta to Zebulon GA.

@ionic5.0 - Sorry to hear about your theft and damage to your truck. I have my Tremor because some low life decided to steal my old 2011 F-150 (and boat) out of my driveway one night, then beat the ever loving hell out of it. It sucks. I hope they put it back together for you better than new..
