I have a 2026 on order but may have to bail on it and find one available now due to needing the truck for work. Really would like to stick with the Tremor.

My current order has no sunroof (partly because of research indicating they leak). Originally was told 8 weeks. Now I'm told it could take 12-15 weeks.

Plan to keep long term and it's a personal truck that I use for work - otherwise I may not be as invested at making sure its solid.

It seems every single available truck in inventory or on order has a sunroof.

Searching and using AI to look across forums it sounds like the sunroofs on these leak - but I can't tell if that is a real issue that is statistically significant or not. Also can't tell if it a design flaw or a maintenance issue.

Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

Going all the way back to the 2015 until now, some but not all F150 owners with the panoramic roof have had some issues with water intrusion so it’s definitely the luck of the draw.
With that being said, some of the issues can definitely be traced to clogged drainage holes and some can be traced to lack of maintenance / lubricant on the seals and other parts.

I’m sure it’s safe to say that the vast majority of owners haven’t had any issues and it’s a very popular option hence the reason you see so many TREMORS as well as higher trim Lariats and above on dealers lots with this optional feature.

I have seen a few bad ones leak from customers. I just do not like them. I agree it seems like its moonroof palooza out there on the dealer lots.

My 2016 leaked as well as broken track a few times. It’s a heavy piece of glass. My tenor has no moonroof. Glad I don’t have it never wished I did.
Ditto for my 2017 F150. Low mileage (25,000 mi) and 100% garaged.
To add to the aggravation my local dealer just lubed it up and didn't replace the guides when it failed.(n)

'22 - no issues. Having said that, I had no idea there was required maintenance - anyone have a good link on what should be done?

Yeah, it's in here somewhere. There is a grease you buy and grease the seals/tracks. Fors has a bulletin for it and I am sure Chat GPT can find it for you.

I'll attach what I found since I'm in deep on the subject and have decided that I have to get the sunroof in order to get a 2026 before the end of August.

The Three TSBs in Sequence

TSB 16-0020 (original, 2015–2016) — first version, recommended Krytox grease for sunroof seal cleaning and lubrication on F-150.

TSB 19-2169 — superseded 16-0020 in 2019 to extend coverage to 2015–2019 F-150. Same general procedure, same product.

I think the sunroofs of 10 or 15 years ago were fine because they only covered the front seats and not so big. Now they make they double size and roll some parts up above the back window. Too much Too big ...now they leak and sqeak and weaken the entire roof structure. Best to stay away and have no issues .

I wish I could. I screwed up. My test drive Tremor had no sunroof but was sold immediately.

There is no current inventory or inbound trucks without a sunroof. Custom orders are a minimum of 16 weeks to delivery.

I agree they are a problem but most manufacturers include them. My current 2022 SUV sunroof rattles and it’s unusable because opening it dislodges the rubber seal.

I have had several F1 50s with sunroof. I only had one issue which is on the current truck. The issue was the truck came from the factory with a missing drain tube for the sunroof. That means when it properly drains the water dripped out of the sunroof as designed, but didn’t exit the vehicle and actually went into the floor of the vehicle. It was easily fixed, and I’ve had no issues since.

I also park outside in a very wet area that is considered subtropical. I also have several friends who park outside with F1 50s and I’ve had them for years with likely millions of miles collectively. None have had an issue with the sunroof.

Of course, there will always be issues with anything, but, the old school thinkers (those who think every eco-boost will fail sunroof will all shatter and leak, etc.) will tell you “ absolutely no” to the sunroof based solely on their personal beliefs. Point is that they have no access to data to show any level of pro rata problems. Frankly, I don’t either except for personal experience amongst quite a few trucks over millions and millions of miles (by the way, – absolutely none of these people do any maintenance at all to the sunroof)).

Personally, I am indifferent. However, many people with the sunroof absolutely love them and it makes driving enjoyable certain times of the year with the back window open.

Again, it’s a personal preference, but the likelihood that you will have an issue with a sunroof is extremely low.

Thanks - it is pretty easy to get spun up with what's on-line and effectively talk yourself out of a decision.

Its no more problematic than any other manufacturer, they all use the same fundamental design from a handful of suppliers nowadays (Webasto is the big one). In my last 10 or so cars, the only one with an issue was an old Audi (drain tubes), and it was a mess.

Keep the drain channels/tubes clean, grease the rails, and should be as good as any. IMO, if you're impartial to the concept of having a sunroof, it is almost certainly not going to be an issue; if you fundamentally don't like sunroofs (heat, light, headroom, maintenance, etc..) you will regret it and its worth waiting.

I personally like having them and intentionally ordered my truck with one.

My new Tremor will be the first vehicle I've had in 30 years without one. As a kid it was fun, as a former smoker it had purpose. These days I keep the shade closed 99% of my life, so I opted to go without one. Not for fear of leaks though.

2022 with sunroof and no issues 🙏🏼

I didn't want it on my 2024 but found a good deal on a holdover and took it. I park outside and have a little over 60k on it. No issues so far but I don't park under a tree dropping leaves to clog up the drain. I also don't use it but a few times a month.
