First truck and it's on order as of last week (2026 Tremor, 402A, V8, Gray). It's for a long-term work project on undeveloped farmland with decent size slope, creeks and rock outcrops. None of my friends own trucks - so I have to lean heavy on this and the F150 forum.

I've been reading as much as I can to get smart about ownership and what to do to getting the most out of it - and improving on it. I see a lot of people here leveling, lifting, changing suspension and adding new wheels/tires, etc. I am in the Chicago area (North) and I am having a hard time finding where I could take my truck to get some of the recommended mods done - especially level/lift/suspension. Most shops around here seem to do mods for street set-ups - smaller wheels, high lifts, under carriage lights. I need the opposite - 3 hour highway commute and then off-road/overlander set-up. Could also head up to Wisconsin if needed to find a shop/person.

The bed liner, cover and maybe adding some LED lights should be straightforward.

Any suggestions? I can handle the small mods - but I'm not going to level or lift it myself. I want reputable help, but with zero contacts/friends with trucks getting mixed results with Google searches.

Appreciate the help.

Congrats and welcome to the club and forum.😎

Based on what you mentioned regarding its usage, you should first see if the stock suspension setup does everything that you want it to do and if not, then you should look into suspension modifications.

These trucks are pretty capable in stock form. Most of the time people are trying to make the truck look better and a few do different wheels / tires to enhance off roading capability. Leveling the truck will gain you a bit of ground clearance regarding approach angles, etc. Beyond that, lifts are something you are only going to need to improve its off roading capability. Even then, there are some methods for this that do better than others. A lift without larger tires is pretty much useless as your actual ground clearance doesn't really change.

Additionally, lifts, and even some leveling options can change the angles of suspension components which cause things to wear faster. My advice, change things when you need to or if your going for a specific aesthetic. If its function you are after, then try seeing what your truck can do before going down an expensive path of parts and upgrades you may not need.

Lift kits, shocks, suspension mods etc. and wheels and tires will cost you thousands of dollars.
