I took my truck in for an inspection of the transmission because I was tired of the random feeling of being rear ended. So they check it out and with my extended warranty decided it did need new parts in it. Well I went to pick it up last Saturday and the fuel pump was going ape shit and the engine light was on. I’m not a pro mechanic, but this is the first truck that I’ve had that I don’t just do all the work myself. So the question is, why the hell would the fuel pump go bad and cause constant vacuum sounds when all they needed to do was work on the trans? This actually pisses me off because I’ve never had an engine light come on in this truck for 44k miles, I take it in and it’s now in worse condition. Anyone have some light to shed on this for me?

Hard to know why you’re having another issue but as you said, you have an ESP so just take it back in or maybe even take it to another dealer.

Oh I made them keep it, the guy said he was going to bring a tech over real quick because he was sure it was just a solenoid, but I said I was taking the loaner back again and expected my truck not to be in worse condition at what’s supposed to be the best dealership in Texas.
I’m truly curious about the fuel pump issue. Do they have to take the gas tank off to work on the trans? Does anyone know? Do they have to disconnect the anything going to the fuel pump?
